At the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to:
Objectives
1. Identify the organs of the Digestive System and its unique function.
2. Describe each stage of food processing.
3. Appreciate the importance of each organs of digestive system on the

Activity 1
Recall the different organs that made up the digestive system through:
“Friendly Feud”
(Adapted from the ABS-CBN TV Game Show)
- In this activity, the class should be divided into two competing groups.
There will be one category that they need to answer one by one. If one or
two members are unable to answer, the competing group will have a

chance to answer the category and gain points.

Category:
 Organs that made up the digestive system
(mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, pancreas,
liver, gall bladder, appendix, rectum and anus)
Activity 2
IV. PROCEDURES

“Fast Food Processing”

Group students into 4 and they will be given cutout letters and definition of
one of the four stages of food processing and they will rearrange the letters
to form the correct word. Don’t forget to time the students from the start of
activity to finish.
Engage:
1.INGESTION– it is the process of taking in food substances.
2.DIGESTION– physically breaking down of food particles, the process of
breaking down complex molecules into simpler molecules through chemical
hydrolysis.
3.ABSORPTION– it allows the animals to acquire the necessary energy,
organic molecules and essential nutrients from digested food.
4. EGESTION – the removal of metabolic wastes from the body.

Presentation of student’s activity worksheet guide.
Explain
Present the answers in activity sheets in a powerpoint presentation.
Elaborate Present the concept map to the class. To generalize the lesson, the map
should initially have mostly blank spaces. Ask the learners to complete the
diagram by filling in missing terms or the teacher can just simply discuss
the concept map.
