© 910630 Chapter 9: Maintenance and Adjustments Page 9-63 9.8.4.4 Adjustment of the Thermostatic Expansion Valve ‘The thermostatic expansion valve should not need adjusting; new valves are pre-adjusted inthe factory. Shouldit be necessary to adjust the valve, it can be done by turning the spindle focated under the cap nut. Toincrease the superheating (difference between the inlet gas temperature and the evaporation temperature) turn the spindle clockwise. To reduce the superheating, tun the spindle anti-clockwise. CAUTION: The spindle should not be rotated more than a quarter of a turn at one time. “The superheating should be set to approximately 8 °C. The level will continually fluctuate about this central point. The ‘suporheating can be checked with an electronic thermometer, 9.8.4.5 Adjustment of High/Low Pressure Safety Switch (13) “The pressure regulator is adjusted before the unit leaves the factory. Hit becomes necessary to readiustit, proceed as follows: 4, The lowpressure switch-on point is displayed on the cantre scale. Adjust the switching point with the ‘small adjusting screw on the housing above this scale. 2. The differential pressure of the low prossure switchis displayed on the left-hand scale (DIFF.). Adjust the switch-off point with large adjusting screw above the scale. 3, The high pressure switch-off point is displayed on the right-hand scale, The differential pressure of this high pressure switch is fixed.
