1. Given the traditional/conventional concept of literacy, how literate are you?


Answer:
I would like to say I am average of being literate, I can understand English, I
hit some words I don’t know, I can communicate with others. As long as I
have a spirit of reading and writing I am an average literate person.

2. Although reading education in the Philippines aims to develop


Functional/Practical literacy in learners, what level of literacy is being
developed when classroom practices focus more on memorization rather than
on understanding and application?
Answer:
Basic literacy skills are the level of literacy being develop in a classroom that
practices more on memorization rather on understanding and application
because it produces a rudimentary thinking of the students. Memorization
often involve in repetition of words and just by the basic literacy level involves
the application on recognizing the words.
