Experiential Learning Activity 4

Choose one skill from each category and give a sample classroom situation.
(e.g.I. Learning and Innovation skills, A. Critical Thinking and Problem Solving:
Effectively Analyzing and evaluating evidence, arguements, claims, and
beliefs....give the sample).

I. LEARNING AND INNOVATION SKILLS

C. COLLABORATION
Ü DEMONSTRATING ABILITY TO WORK EFFECTIVELY AND
RESPECTFULLY WITH DIVERSE TEAM.
✓ ln learning and innovation skills, l choose collaboration because working
collaboratively, instead of individually, helps improve productivity and gives
employees a sense of purpose in the organization. It also becomes easier to
brainstorm ideas to solve an existing problem or deliver the required work on time
so because of collaboration, learning and innovation skills are developed with the
helped of the team. For example:

II. INFORMATION, MEDIA AND TECHNOLOGY SKILLS

A. INFORMATION LITERACY
Ü ACCESSING AND EVALUATING INFORMATION CRITICALLY AND
COMPETENTLY.
✓To acquire information literacy, one must actively participate in accessing
information in a timelyand effective manner. One must evaluate information in a
timely and effective manner. One mustevaluate information critically and
adequately. To resolve the issue/problem, information must be usedaccurately.
By empowering students to develop these skills, we can contribute to their academic
success and help ensure that our TUS graduates become independent and successful
lifelong learners.

III. LIFE AND CAREER SKILLS

C. SOCIAL AND CROSS-CULTURAL SKILLS

Ü INTERACT EFFECTIVELY WITH EACH OTHER

Ü WORK EFFECTIVELY IN DIVERSE TEAMS

✓When we interact with each other, we should know when it is appropriate to listen
and when topeak. As a future educator, we should be act as a professional one.

When we work as a team, of course there are differences from each other, from our
backgroundsituation, our culture differences, so we must respect, be open-minded and
work as a team to make aninnovation and quality of work.

Instruction. Choose the Best option and justify why it is the best answer. Furthermore,
explain why the other options are not the best answer.

1. In celebration of Scimatech Month dubbed as “Exploring Wonders of Scimatech in the Modern

World”, the science, math, and computer technology areas converged and culminated with an
integrative activity. This is a clear example of which type of curriculum integration?
a. Project-based c. Task-based
b. Theme-based d. Topic-based
Theme-based is the best option Theme-Based becaused Some teachers go beyond sequencing
content and plan collaboratively and they do it in a more intensive way of working with a theme
dubbed as “theme- based.” Often, three or more subject areas are involved in the study, and the
unit ends with an integrative culminating activity. Units of several weeks’ duration may emerge
from this process, and the whole school may be involved. A theme-based unit involving the
whole school maybe independent of the regular school schedule.

Other thematic programs may involve teachers across the same rate, wherein teachers carefully
connect the activities to the standards in each disciplines. Over time, they have developed a long
list of possible culminating activities. They also update their Website continually and use it as a
teaching tools with students. The site offers many interesting options for those interested on this
method of integration

The other option is not the best option because

2. Prof. Miranda incorporates current issues on economic crises, government

expenditures and currency deflation in teaching business analysis in his ABM class.
Which integration model does he exemplify?
a. Intradisciplinary c. Multidisciplinary
b. Interdisciplinary d. Transdisciplinary
 It is the best answear becauseTransdisciplinary learning enables your child to build concepts and
skills across subject areas, rather than studying subjects in isolation. Subjects are distinct, yet
interconnected, allowing for a holistic learning experience in which students apply what they're
learning in a variety of contexts

Beyond Subject Areas

A transdisciplinary approach places the characteristics, needs, interests, and personal learning processes
of students at the forefront of the learning experience. Students engage in independent projects which aim
to develop
initiative

imagination and creativity

research skills

analysis and synthesis skills

autonomy

As students work on projects, they acquire knowledge and skills that are based in the subject areas.
However, the subject areas are subordinate to the project goals.

Example

Students work on independent research projects. The formal timetable is left behind while teachers guide
students in their research.

Integrating ecology, physics, and chemistry in the study of sciences at Early Years

3. Research shows a very high correlation between students’ mathematical problem

comprehension and their computational skill. Therefore, a K to 12 teacher should
employ ______________
a. More reinforcement exercises
b. Collaborative Learning Strategies
c. Interdisciplinary Approach
d. Seminars on problem-solving and computational skill enhancement

An interdisciplinary approach (also called horizontal integration) connects

the interdependent knowledge and skills from more than one subject area to
examine a central theme, issue, problem, topic, or experience. It is a
holistic approach that stresses linkages.

Example
Using sustainable development as a theme, students pursue learning outcomes
from science, social studies, and language arts to better understand a complex
issue.
