Self-Reflection:
Personally, I thought that the lesson was very engaging for both students. They both loved the digging activity since it was hands-on and
personalized. They even wanted to put the words back and dig for them again at the end of the day. My timing was appropriate for the lesson since
I did not stay on one activity for too long. One area of weakness that I noticed regarding the lesson was that they struggled with certain vowel
sounds. I need to review both the letter E and I short vowel sounds each lesson since they struggle to identify the correct sounds. I also should
have explained the sound boxes in greater depth by modeling a few examples before having them start the digging activity. Throughout my
coursework, I have been taught to consistently review concepts several times since it helps students recall information and solidify concepts. I
have noticed significant improvement within my students’ success since I have been reviewing concepts in greater depth after weekends and
longer breaks.
