At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:

 Define features of the New Music Composers of the Philippines,


 Identify the selected new music contemporary Filipino composers.
 Write and perform a song of Contemporary New Music style.
Learning Competencies/Codes: Perform selections of contemporary Philippine music
(MU10CM-IIIa-h-1), (MU10CM-IIIa-h-2), (MU10CM-IIIa-h-3)
Content Standards: The learners demonstrate understanding of characteristic features of new
contemporary Filipino music.
Performance Standards: The learners sing new Contemporary Filipino songs.

I will present a Mix Random Letters, and you will assemble
and try to guess of what word is that. And for you to answer, I
will group you in row. And the group who first to assemble it
will write it on the board and say the word and win.”

Composers of experimental New Music in the Philippines
include Jose Maceda, Lucrecia Kasilag, Ramon Santos, Manuel
Maramba, Jerry Dadap, Francisco Feliciano, Josefino "Chino"
Toledo, and Jonas Baes. This composer retained the Filipino
spirit by incorporating traditional music from as well as
indigenous rhythms and instruments in their compositions.

National Artist for Music
Jose Montserrat Maceda was born in Manila on January 17,

1917. He started his music studies at the Academy of Music in


Manila.

(1918-2008)
National Artist for Music
She was born in San Fernando, la union on august 31, 1981.
She went to manila to pursue a degree in music at the
Philippine Women's University. She then obtained her Master's
degree from the Eastman School of Music in New York, USA,
where her music was influenced by her professors Irving
McHose and Wayne Barlow.

(Born 1935)
He Is the first Filipino composer to conduct his own works at
the Carnegie Recital Hall in New York City, was born on
November 5, 1935 in Hanunangan, Southern Leyte. He earned
his Bachelor’s Degree in Music, Major in Composition, at the
Conservatory of Music, University of the Philippines in 1964.

Is one of the most accomplished musicians and liturgists in the
Philippines during the second half of the 20th Century. He was
born on July 4, 1936 in Pangasinan.
