At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:

 Understand the concept of global health trends, issues and concerns.


 Explain the 8 millennium development goals and health initiative and,
 Describe the scenario what if the 8 millennium goals are achieved and if not.
Learning Competencies/Codes: discusses the significance of global health initiatives. (H10HC-IIIa-
1)
Content Standards: The learners understand the guidelines and criteria in the selection and evaluation of
health information, products, and services.
Performance Standards: The learners demonstrate critical thinking and decision-making skills in the
selection, evaluation and utilization of health information, products and services.

Global Health and the Millennium Development Goals
- The term global health rose in popularity along with the
rise of globalization. Both terms improve public
awareness of vulnerabilities and shared responsibilities
among people for the different injustices in the world.

ERADICATE EXTREME POVERTY AND HUNGER”
It leads to severe Malnutrition which leads to lifelong physical
and cognitive damage and affects health, well-being and the
economy.

nutrition for their family, adopting healthy sanitary practices and
ensuring immunization of children.

It is a program and policies which help to reduce child mortality
like improving national intake, healthcare facilities and
infrastructure and other fields which improve children’s lives.

Maternal Health, is not only about mother’s but also involves

United Nations, World Health Organization, World Bank and
governments work together to make sure there is fair trade and
that heavily indebted countries obtain relief and funds to combat
poverty, malnutrition and funds for education and social projects.
