VI. COURSE DESCRIPTION : This course covers topics in strength of materials which includes axial stresses
and strains, stresses for torsion and bending, combined stresses, beam
deflections, indeterminate beams and elastic instability.

VII. PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

1. Graduates are engaged in the practice of Civil Engineering in the various technical specializations including structural, construction, geotechnical,
transportation and water resources.
2. Graduates occupy responsible positions such as supervisory or managerial in engineering firms.
3. Graduates continue to develop their technical and professional skills through formal and/or non-formal studies.

XVII. Classroom Management :

Student of this course are expected to:

1. Take and pass all short/long quizzes, prelim, midterm and final examinations and subject requirements/project.
2. The students are required to submit the assignments, projects, case study, etc. within the date specified
3. Students are expected to attend regularly and punctually all scheduled classes.
a. Student is allowed to be up to 15 minutes late in reaching the online class. If a student is more than 15 minutes late then lateness is marked
on the attendance record. Three (3) consecutive lateness will be marked as absent.
b. If the absence exceeds 3 consecutive contracts and there is no satisfactory reason for the low attendance, the student will be considered
dropped.
4. Observe honesty and independence during recitation, examinations and quizzes. Any student caught to be dishonest will be dealt with
accordingly based on the College policies.
5. Students are subjects to the academic integrity and behavioral expectations of the school; pin their ID’s and wear proper uniform during uniform
days and appropriate attire during wash days (Wednesday) as prescribed by the college.

6. If a student’s absence causes them to miss a scheduled exam, the exam will be made up at the earliest possible time together with their medical
certificate. It is the student’s responsibility to coordinate with the instructor to have a make-up exam available.
7. Students are expected to ask questions and not just agree; for any difficulties encountered in the subject do not hesitate to talk to the instructor.
