-Welcome to Christian Polytechnic Institute of Catanduanes Inc. an accredited assessment center for
Barista NC II
-My name is Czarina Pearl T. Tuibeo, I am an accredited competency assessor for Barista NC II
-I would like to acknowledge the presence of Ms. Cherry Joy Bote the AC Manager of Blue Café of Virac,
Catanduanes and Ms. Mae Bianca Pena our representative from TESDA provincial office.
You do not need to worry about their presence my dear candidates they are here to monitor the
competency assessment and ensure that it is carried out in accordance with the competency
assessment methodology and procedures.
-So, they won’t assess you since I’ll be the one to do.
-Before we start may I request everyone to rise and let’s have to pray first. (Amen)
-So, let us set.
-Now, let me check the attendance. Please present me your admission slips and sign once your name is
called.
-First, let me call on Ms. Antonette Bocal, next is Ms. Rejelyn Saldua.
I have here with me your accomplished self-assessment guide this is an indication that you know and
you can perform all the units of competency enumerated in this qualification.

-I’ll be administering the competency assessment for Barista NC II institute today which is qualification
level with 5 core competencies.
Prepare Espresso
Texture Milk
Prepare and Serve coffee
Perform basic maintenance of Machine and Equipment
Perform basic cashiering & general control procedures
-However, this assessment will just focus on one unit of competency under core competency which is
Prepare and Serve coffee and the purpose of this assessment is to determine your level of competency.
I am going to collect your evidence such as portfolio, written examination followed by demonstration
and oral questioning.
-For the assurance of national certificate or what you call certificate of competency your AC manager
will perform you where you can get it five working days after your assessment.
After this assessment and you found out that you are not yet competent, you don’t have to worry
because you can reassess any time at your own convenience.
Once it is full qualification you need to undergo the whole process but once you are not yet competent
in one unit of competency. Only you just need to reassess that specific unit and if you’re not satisfied
with the result of your assessment you have the right to appeal you can submit your appeal to the
TESDA provincial office or at the assessment center or where your assessor has been accredited.
With regards to the result of your assessment it will remain confidential and only available to right
personnel to assess assessment center where you conduct your training and assessment.
-This is to ensure your integrity, so may I request you to candidates to refrain from giving away any
information regarding the assessment process. If you have any difficulty in the instruction please
approach me or call my attention so that we can address it.

In this center we have different areas like this room for written and oral questioning just outside the
waiting area and at the end of the hallway is there a canteen, where you can take your meals during
break next to is our comfort room and just right beside is the room for demonstration.

-Once the assessment has started please refrain from asking questions because it is no longer allowed
same with your cellphone so kindly put it in silent mode or better turn it off. Also, food is not allowed
here in assessment room so eating is strictly prohibited any other concerns.

You have one hour to finish your exam and after that we will procced to demonstration.

This is our assessment area where you are going to perform Taking Orders of the guests. Please read the
instruction again. If you have questions, you may ask now because soon as the assessment begin you
can no longer ask any questions.

In that regard you may begin. Please be informed that after the demonstration there will be oral
questioning.

“Why it is important to learn taking Orders of Guests? And what did you learn about it?”

-My observation is that you are indeed a competent in performing the different skills for Barista NCII .
However, I have noticed that you should learn more regarding the information about the coffee beans
which is certainly important. Furthermore, you were not that confident answering the questions during
oral questioning. Nevertheless, you able to answer the questions correctly and the result of the written
test showed that you are knowledgeable about Barista NCII. About this matter, I would like to
congratulate you for a job well done. I found out that you are already competent.
Please sign the competency assessment result. For the issuance of the National Certificate the AC
Manager shall inform you were to claim your National Certificate after 5 working days, this regard I
would like to say congratulations.
-(next candidate 2): please sit down, how do you feel before and after the assessment?
-Candidate 2: (answering)
-Okay. You were able to demonstrate taking orders of guest, actually you are good about it. However,
you seem to be nervous also you should speak louder and have eye contact with the guest. During oral
questioning you have answered confidently which is good, however I am expecting for more realization.
Based on the result of my observation the outcome of the assessment is that you are not yet
competent.
However, you can be re-assessed anytime at your convenience. If you have doubts regarding the
assessment result, you have the right to appeal. You can submit you appeal to the TESDA provincial
office for the assessment center and assessor are accredited. Well you please sign the competency
