“PERSUASIVE WRITING IS
POWERFUL”

Persuasive writing is a type of writing that

aims at convincing people in different
ways: think, feel, or to act in the writer’s
way.

When composing a persuasive essay, a

writer needs to be well-versed in word
selection, framing logical arguments, and
creating a strong cohesive closing
argument.

A writer needs to combine thorough

research with good word choice in order to
achieve his goal. And that is why
persuasive writing is powerful.

The ultimate goal of a writer when

composing a persuasive text is to make his
opinions believable and get the readers to
agree with him.

May you please read what is persuasive

text?
Persuasive texts may be in different forms
such as:

 Essays in books
 Articles in newspapers and
magazines
 Posters
 Advertisements
Do you have any questions regarding
persuasive writing?

4
Now let’s talk about the structures of
persuasive writing.

Who would like to read the presentation?

A persuasive writing usually contains:

a) The writer’s opinion, which he or
she wants the reader to accept;
b) Evidence or information to support
Thank you for reading. the writer’s opinion;
c) The action that the writer wants
the readers do.
To deepen your understanding, just like an
essay, a persuasive text must have an
introduction, body, and conclusion.
However, there is a difference regarding
the content, words and phrases that you
might use.

Who would like to read the introduction?

Yes, Mr./Ms.

Thank you for reading.

Introduction is where you will be stating

two to three sentences of your opinion,
stand, or opinion.

For example:
“Social media has become an integral
part of our lives in the modern world.
With millions of users around the world, it
has transformed the way we communicate,
interact, and even think.”

May you please give an example?

5
Bullying is a problem that has plagued
Nice example! schools for decades, and it is one that requires
action to be taken. While schools have taken
steps to combat bullying, the problem
persists, and more needs to be done.
Let’s move on to the next part.

Who would like to read the second part of

persuasive text?

Yes, Mr./Ms.

Thank you for reading.

Body provides supporting details why you

claim such stand. You can use linking
words. Aside from that, we must include
facts and opinions to support our claim.

Let’s take the given example from the

introduction as an example. Our stand is,
social media has become an integral part
of our lives in the modern world.

So our body could be like this:

One of the most significant advantages of
social media is that it allows us to connect
with people from all over the world.
Moreover, social media platforms provide
a space for people to share their opinions
and ideas on important issues, fostering a
sense of community and social
engagement.

So, using the example of your classmate,

what are the facts and opinions that you
must include in your body to support your
claim?

6
 bullying can have a devastating
effect on a student's academic
performance.
Great ideas!  bullying can have a significant
impact on a student's mental health.
 students who are bullied may

words that you remember?

 Furthermore
 Before/after
Excellent!  For instance
 In fact
 Additionally
Aside from those linking words you  In conclusion
mentioned, here are some other linking
words: furthermore, on top of that,
instead, according to, in addition, not only
but also, for instance

These linking words could be used to

support you claims.

Do you have any questions regarding

body?

Now for the last part, who would like to

read it?
Yes, Mr./Ms.
None, ma’am.

Thank you for reading.

Conclusion is where you will restate your

claim to establish your point once more,
why they should consider your side or
agree with your claim.

7
This is the structure of persuasive essay.
Structure of persuasive essays

Take note of this. In persuasive writing,

you must remember O-R-E-O.
O – Opinion (stating your stand or feeling
regarding a certain topic)
R – Reason (provide reasons or facts to
support your stand or opinion)
E – Examples (give additional examples to
support your claim)
O – Opinion (restating your opinion once
more to steal a cohesive conclusion)

That’s the end of our discussion. Do you

have any questions?

None, ma’am.

6. Generalization Let’s have a recap to check if you really

understood our lesson.

from the lesson?

writing can be a useful skill for a student like
