Lesson Plan in
TECHNOLOGY and LIVELIHOOD EDUCATION
Grade 8
Time: 10:00-11:00 AM – 1:00–2:00 PM
I- Objectives:
At the end of the discussion, students are expected to:
a. identify the equipment in swine production;
b. create a mini poultry house; and
c. cite the importance of using the appropriate equipment and facilities in
performing farm operation
Activity: After receiving their responses, the teacher will begin the lesson with a game called
Identify Pic/ Label Pic for three (3) minutes. The several pictures associated are included with
their new lesson Animal Production (equipment and facilities in poultry and swine production).

B. Abstraction: When the pictures were already discovered by the students, project the
pictures found and ask them to share their insights about the pictures.
a. After the activity, present to the class their newest lesson in TLE, animal production
equipment and facilities in poultry and swine production.
b. Define the term and ask students what comes into their mind when they hear the
word equipment and facilities in poultry and swine production.
c. Present the equipment and facilities according to their requirement and use in
poultry and swine production.
Unlocking of Difficulties
Animal Production – is the technology applied to the keeping of animals for profit.
Includes; feeding, breeding, housing and marketing.
Poultry – feathered animals such as chickens, ducks, geese, etc.
Livestock – refers to one or more domesticated animals raised in an agricultural
setting to produce commodities such as food, fiber and labor; usually for
legged animals.
Tools – devices that make the work of mans easier and faster.
Garden tools – one of many tools made for gardening and landscaping.
Electric/power tool – a tool powered by electricity or driven by a motor.
Hand tools – used for conducting simple repair and maintenance operation.
Fencing tools – devices for fence construction and layout of animal houses.
C. Analysis: After the discussion on the common poultry and livestock farm tools, the
teacher will have a recap on the facts.
1. What are the farm tools used in raising poultry and livestock?
2. How farm tools help the farmers working on their farm?
3. Do you think there are difference between the farm tools we use for livestock
production and poultry production nowadays?
V- Application:
The teacher will divide the class into fourteen (14) groups according to their rows.
Each group will have to create a mind map according to the types and uses of
construction materials and tools.
The teacher will use the following rubric to rate each group.
The rubric will be discussed first by the teacher before each student proceeds to
the activity.
This activity will be a total of forty (40) points.
The students will be given twenty (20) minutes to finish the activity.
