TECHNOLOGY and LIVELIHOOD EDUCATION
Grade 8
Time: 10:00-11:00 AM – 1:00–2:00 PM

I- Objectives:
At the end of the discussion, students are expected to:
a. identify the steps in using garden tools;
b. perform the steps in using garden tools; and
c. cite the importance of following the appropriate steps in using garden tools.

II- Subject Matter:


Topic: ANIMAL PRODUCTION
How to identify appropriate steps in doing garden tools in common poultry
and livestock.
Reference: Learning Module pages 9-11,
Curriculum Guide pages 13-17

IV- Lesson Proper:


Lesson Recall: The teacher will ask students to recall the lesson that was discussed at
the previous meeting which is about on common poultry and livestock farm tools in
animal production.

A. Activity: After receiving their responses, the teacher will begin the lessons were the
learners participate in a game by matching the two sets of pictures linked with one
another in the essence of tool–function pattern. The several terms associated are
included with their new lesson the steps in using spade, shovel and rake in poultry and
livestock tool.
B. Abstraction: When the words were already discovered by the students, project the
words found and ask them to share their insights about the words.
a. After the activity, present to the class their newest lesson in TLE, animal
production on steps in using garden tools.
b. Define the term garden tools ask students to share their experiences and ideas
whenever they heard about spade, shovel and rake.
c. Present the steps on using garden tools according to their use in poultry and
livestock production.
d. Share a short history of spade, shovel and rake created by man.

Unlocking of Difficulties

Spade – tool used to collect animal droppings and manures.


Shovel - are used for cleaning ditches, digging and moving soil and other granular
material; They are also used for leveling a base for sill rocks, steps.
Rake – used for scooping, scraping, and gathering materials such as soil or leaves.
C. Analysis: After the discussion on the steps on using garden tools, the teacher will
have a recap on the facts.

1. What are the garden tools used in raising poultry and livestock?
2. How these farm tools help the farmers working on their farm?

V- Application:

Note: The application of knowledge will be given next meeting. The


teacher will choose among the three (3) suggested tools for their performance.

This is an individual activity


The teacher will use the following rubric to rate the learner’s performance.
This activity will be a total of twenty (20) points.
The students will be given ten (10) minutes to finish.
