III. PROCEDURE
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY LEARNER’S ACTIVITY
A. Preliminary
 Prayer “Oh God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct
Please stand for our prayer. the hearts of the faithful grant that the same Holy Spirit we
may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations. Through
Christ our Lord. Amen.”

 Greetings Good morning/afternoon, Sir

Good morning/afternoon class

 Classroom management
Before you sit, kindly check your chair if there are some (The students will arrange their chairs and check some
papers and pick it up. papers underneath.)

 Checking of Attendance
For your attendance, later on you need to pass your quiz
paper as serve as your attendance for today.

Understand? Yes, Sir

How are you today class? We’re okay sir

All right, that’s good to hear.

 Review
What have you learned from our previous discussion? Sir, the six trigonometric ratios, the sides of right triangle,
and applying Pythagorean theorem to find the missing side
of the right triangle.
(Student perform)
Very good, give him/her a spartan clap.
2 2 2
c =a + b
What is the formula of the Pythagorean theorem that we
use?

B. Activity
Now, we will be having an activity.

Are you ready class? Yes, Sir

I have here a chip with corresponding points. I will give

it to you if you are actively participating in our
discussion today.

Every actively participation you will receive a chip and

at the end of our discussion whoever get the highest and
more chips will receive price.

I will group you into two groups then I will show a right
triangle with measurement on its sides and you need to
have a representative to answer on the board each group,
you need to race with the other group to get the chip if
your answer is correct.

Is it clear? Yes, Sir

Then, let’s start.

Those representatives of the group please proceed to the

board.

(2 minutes starts now)

4 6
sin R= csc W =
6 2
sin R csc W
cos R sec W 2 6
tan R cot W cos R= secW =
6 4

4 4
tan R= cot W ¿
2 2
Congratulation to the group wo received points.

What did you observe in our activity?

Sir, we illustrate the six trigonometric ratios.
That’s correct.
C. Analysis/Discussion

Class did you remember what is meant by Sir, measurement of triangle

“Trigonometry”?

Very good,

How about the Greek word of the triangle? Sir, Trigonon

How about the Greek word for measure? Sir, Metron

Excellent, please give a spartan clap

Did you remember the six trigonometric ratios? Sir, sine, cosine, tangent, cosecant, secant, and cotangent.

Correct,

We have those six trigonometric ratios,

Now, how many are the primary trigonometric ratios? Sir, three

What are those? Sir, sine, cosine, and tangent.

Very good,

How about the secondary trigonometric ratios? Sir, cosecant, secant, and cotangent.

Excellent,

Again, the six trigonometric ratios are split into two

categories which are the primary and secondary.

Always remember that the primary are the sine, cosine,

and tangent, and the secondary are the inverse when we
say inverse it is the reciprocal of the primary
trigonometric ratios.

Is it clear class? Yes, Sir

Let’s proceed on illustrating the six trigonometric ratios

using right triangle.

Given this right triangle below,

Who wants to illustrate the six trigonometric ratios of 4 12

sin A= csc A=
the A? 12 4

6 12
cos A= sec A=
12 6

6 4
Excellent, tan A= cot A ¿
4 6
Let’s give him/her spartan clap,

How about if the one of the sides of the right triangle is

missing? What rule can we use? Sir, we can use the Pythagorean theorem

That’s correct,

Again, what is the formula of Pythagorean theorem?

2 2 2
c =a + b
Now, given the right triangle below, find the missing
sides using the Pythagorean theorem and illustrate the
six trigonometric ratios of D

What is the first thing we’re going to do?

Sir, find the missing side of the right triangle
Who wants to do it on the board?

2 2 2
c =a + b
2 2 2
g =3 + 4
g= √3 2+ 42
g= √ 9+ 16
Now, we have the value of g the hypotenuse side which g= √25
is 5. g=5

What we need to do next?

Correct, Sir, illustrate the six trigonometric ratios.

Now, illustrate the six trigonometric ratios in relation to

D

Who wants to do it on the board?

3 5
sin D= csc D=
5 3

4 5
cos D= sec D=
5 4
Excellent,
3 4
tan D= cot D¿
What is the acronym of the primary trigonometric 4 3
ratios?

How about the acronym of the secondary trigonometric Sir, SOH-CAH-TOA

ratios?

Very good, Sir, CHO-SHA-CAO

Did you any question class?

Did you understand?

No, Sir
Yes, Sir
D. Abstraction/Generalization

Let’s have a recap on our discussion.

What are the six trigonometric ratios? sine, cosine, tangent, cosecant, secant, cotangent.

What are the three sides of the right triangle? hypotenuse, opposite, adjacent

What rule can we apply in finding the missing side of Pythagorean theorem
the right triangle?

What is the formula of Pythagorean theorem? c 2=a2+ b2

If you were become one of the sides of the right triangle, (Students answer based on their own analyzation)
what will it be and why?

E. Application

Now, we will have an activity.

Get a crosswise paper.

1. What is the acronym of the primary SOH – CAH – TOA

trigonometric ratios?

2. What is the acronym of the secondary CHO – SHA – CAO

trigonometric ratios?

3. What rule we can apply in finding the missing Pythagorean theorem

sides of the right triangle?

4. Give the formula of the Pythagorean theorem in 2 2

c =a + b

finding the hypotenuse side of the right triangle.

IV. EVALUATION

Get your notebook we will be having a quiz.

1. Enumerate the three sides of the right triangle. Sine, cosine, tangent, cosecant, secant, cotangent.

2. Enumerate the six trigonometric ratios. Hypotenuse, opposite, adjacent.

3. Apply the Pythagorean theorem to find the

missing term of the given right triangle, and
illustrate the six trigonometric ratios.

4. If you were become a part of the right triangle (Answer may vary)
what it you will be and why?

V. ASSIGNMENT
Class, get your notebook and please copy your assignment.
