By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:
1.1.2 Understand independently specific information and details in extended texts on a

SUCCESS CRITERIA 1. Pupils can answer 8 MCQ questions.

ACTIVITIES
1. Pupils discuss as a class features of narrative dialogues (ex: correct usage of punctuation such as
PRE-LESSON quotation marks and comma)
2. A list is written on the board and pupils copy them down in a notebook as a reminder.
3. Pupils are reminded of the previous listening lesson where they had to choose the correct answer
from three picture options and that they will be doing a similar activity but this time the three options
are in written form.
4. Pupils read 8 questions from Part 1 Listening Sample Paper 1, and any unknown vocabulary is
discussed before proceeding to the listening activity.
5. Pupils listen to the audio recording twice and answer 8 MCQ questions. (Main Skill)
6. Pupils compare their answers in pairs before discussing as a class.
7. Pupils give feedback as a class about what was easy and what they found challenging.
LESSON DEVELOPMENT
8. If there is sufficient time, pupils may move on to the second listening activity.
9. Pupils read the 7 questions from Part 4 Listening Sample Paper 1, and any unknown vocabulary is
discussed before proceeding to the listening activity.
10. Pupils listen to the audio recording twice and answer 7 MCQ questions.
11. Pupils compare their answers in pairs before discussing as a class.
Differentiated Activities:
Less proficient pupils: Pupils work in pairs for the listening activity instead of independently.
More proficient pupils: -
1. Pupils review their learning in this lesson by completing an exit card about the listening activities:
‘what they were able to do well in the activities?’ and ‘what they found particularly challenging about
