NARRATIVE REPORT ON THE CONDUCT OF BRIGADA

PAGBASA & BRIGADA PLUS
S.Y. 2023 - 2024

Irawan National High School Faculty and Staff started their progressive Tuesday on August 15,
2023, by launching their Brigada Eskwela kick-off, participated by different institutions, stakeholders,
parents, and students.
After the parade, the program started with the singing of the National Anthem followed by the
doxology and messages from our beloved Principal II Marilyn M. Badilla up to different organizations
stating their pledge and commitment to the Brigada Eskwela program every school year.
One of the programs launched during Brigada Eskwela is the “Brigada Pagbasa” in response to
Hamon: Bawat Bata Bumabasa or DepEd 3B Initiative issued under DM 173, s. 2019. The program aims to
make every learner a reader by engaging partners and stakeholders to promote the culture of reading.
As the enrollment for SY 2023-2024 started, the Irawan National High School enrolling officers are
composed of teaching and non-teaching staffs, included a Reading Assessment as part of the enrollment
procedure.
Students undergo reading sessions with the reading facilitator/ volunteer and answer some questions
about the story read. The reading facilitator/volunteer records the status of the learner based on the Phil IRI
monitoring sheet categorized as Frustration, Instructional, and Independent Reader. Learners were asked
after reading if they learned new learning or knowledge after reading, and then advise to read a lot to
enhance their reading skills and comprehension.
Furthermore, struggling students in reading will undergo Project RIDE ( Reading Intervention for
Development and Enhancement).
