1 Garis besar materi yang 1. Procedure text is a text that explains or helps us how to
dipelajari make or use something. There are three definition about
procedure text : (a) Texts that explain how something
works or how to use instruction / operation manuals,
e.g. how to use the video, the computer, the tape
recorder, the photocopier, the fax. (b) Texts that instruct
how to do a particular activity, e.g. recipes, rules for
games, science experiments, road safety rules. (c) Texts
that deal with human behavior, e.g. how to live happily,
how to succeed.

2. Manual alternatively referred to as documentation or

end-user documentation, a manual is a book or
pamphlet that contains information about a program or
piece of hardware. For example, a computer case may
come with documentation explaining what sizes of
motherboard it can hold. Or, a video game may come
with a manual explaining how to play it.

3. The purpose of procedure texts:

- To explain/tell (the reader) how to make/operate/do
something through a sequence of actions or steps
 - To explain steps/instruction to make/operate/do
something

4. Recipe is a set of instructions telling you how

to prepare and cook a particular food, including a list of
what foods are needed for this

5. Itinerary is a detailed plan for a journey or tour or the

proposed outline of one, especially a list of places to
visit; plan of travel.

6. A news item text is a kind of a text which aims to

inform the readers about the important, newsworthy
events of the day.

7. News item text is a text which inform the readers,

listeners or viewers about events of the days in
chronological order. The order in news item can be
based on time, place or the events themselves. The
social function of news item is to inform readers,
listeners or viewers about events of the day which is
considered newsworthy or important.
