Task 3.1 Case Study

To complete this task, consult with the Program Sponsor (played by the trainer and assessor in the
simulated work environment) as needed.

A. Facilitate effective decision making

Manage a problem in the program. Address how you make valid and reliable decisions related to
program governance when faced with a severe issue in the program.

Consider the following scenario (contextualise it for your program when required):

50% Timeline Scenario

You are halfway through the execution of your program.
One of your projects is heavily behind due to staffing issues (30% of the staff allocated to the
project are on sick leave, and 20% had holidays approved for this period).

Outline how you address the situation. Address the following:

a) Specify what project in your program is currently behind.

Delay in website development

b) Assess the impact of the issue on the program. (40-80 words)

This problem is very important because it is the foundation of the project and will cause
delays in the overall delivery of the entire project, which will affect the budget and the
overall schedule of the entire project. The cause of this delay and its solution are being
studied. The problem is reportedly due to a lack of people and turnover needing help.

c) Address the following:

 Outline an action plan to solve the problem referring to:

o the program governance model

RTO Provider: 91153 - CRICOS Code: 02672K
greenwichcollege.edu.au

 Note the communication strategy to inform stakeholders of the actions that have been
planned to resolve the issue.
 Identify any personnel support needs
 Identify any skill development need

(100-150)

Stakeholders will discuss the current topic. Meetings with company directors and web
development assistants. Reports from the last weeks
