Second Parent-Teacher Conference


August 18, 2018

Tumalim National High School held its second-parent teacher conference at the school’s
gym, last August 18. The event promptly started at 7:00 in the morning and was hosted by Ms.
Janice A. Liwanag, adviser of Grade 8- Hope. The parents filed up for their attendance. The
program started with a prayer led by Miss Rizzy R. Sangalang, Grade 9- St, John adviser,
followed by the singing of the National Anthem conducted by Mr. Jeremias S. Beltran, Grade10-
Newton adviser. Mrs. Maricel D. Mercado, the school’s principal gave her welcome address and
congratulated the parents for attending the event despite of the bad weather. She also
addressed the importance of following the school’s rules and regulations to the attendees.
Dr. Gregorio V. Meneses, PSDS- Nasugbu East also gave his message. He stressed on the
following points:

 Formation of Senior High School in Barangay Tumalim and Barangay Kaylaway.


He asked the help of the Barangay Council to help in finding a vacant lot for the
barangay to have their own Senior High School.

 Importance of the Parent-Teacher Partnership


He talked about the importance of communication between the school and its
stakeholders and praised the school for having a good relationship between them and the PTA.

 Child Protection Policy


He discussed about the issues and concerns that students usually experienced by giving
examples and how the parents and teachers should handle these situations.
 Grading System
He pointed about the expectations of parents toward their children and the pressure it
might bring to them. He also said that parents should not expect that the results that they had
during their elementary days would be carried on their high school.

 Voluntary Contribution
He called the “No Collection Policy” as “No Compulsory Collection Policy” and stressed
that all collection done by the school should be authorized.

 District Meet
He asked the school to verify all the credentials that the players would give to avoid
obstruction for the District Meet.

 The Use of Social Media


He congratulated the school for being active in posting all the events occurred in the
school. He also asked the parents and teachers to be aware of what they post or write
about the issues or concerns in the school.

 Issues and Concerns about the Students and the School


Proper communication and channeling are important aspect in dealing with the issues
about the students according to Dr. Meneses.
Furthermore, Hon. Capt. Tomas E. Mercado, the Barangay Captain, Ms. Jorelyn
Rodriguez, SK Chairwoman and Mrs. Raquel de Mesa, PTA President gave their messages
and pledged their support to the different activities that the school would plan.

Mr. Jeremias S. Beltran gave his closing message and reminded the parents about how
the grades were computed based on the DepEd Order.

The second part of the program occurred inside the classrooms where the teachers
gave recognition and awards for the students who excelled in different subject areas during
the First Quarter.
