from English Department. The attendees from each department delightfully signed the
attendance sheet as they arrived in the venue. The preliminaries such as Philippine

through audio visual presentation.
The checking of attendance was given by the head teachers and officer in charge
of each department, beginning with Elementary (Ruby M. Cecilio, MT-II), Filipino (Ofelia
M. Beltran, HT-III), English (Julie P. Pabon, HT-III), Mathematics (Nemia A. Viola, HT-

Afterwards, an opening remark was given by our principal Mam Alicia I. Quinito.
She gave some updates on the upcoming National Learning Camp (NLC) which is set to
roll out during the 2022-2023 End of School Year (EOSY) Break from July 24 to August
25, 2023. Mam Alice also emphasized that the aim of conducting the said school activity
is to address the learning gap and losses of the learners brought about by the pandemic.
She also encouraged teachers to motivate the learners to attend voluntarily for the said
learning recovery program and identify students who will enroll in one of the three
camps; enhancement, consolidation and intervention. Since the NLC entails the services
of teachers beyond regular school days, our principal assured us that the participation
of teachers in the NLC is voluntary, teachers shall be provided with vacation service
credits, certificate of recognition, and other incentives subject to the availability of
funds and guidelines set.

The part two of the SLAC session began right away after the message delivered
by the principal. Mam Donnabel Mirandilla introduced the lone resource speaker of the
day, Atty. Kimberly A. Israel who tackled the one of the most pressing classroom
challenges of teachers in handling students- Child Protection Policy. She first tried to
gauge the interest of the participants with fun facts before proceeding to her main
topic. She then elaborated the content of DepEd Order No.40, s. 2012.

During her talk, Atty. Israel has reiterated that DepEd has adopted the policy to
provide special protection to children who are gravely threatened or endangered by
circumstances which affect their normal development aiming to ensure such special
protection from all forms of abuse and exploitation. After detailing the topic, the
resource speaker had an interactive discussion with the participants about the
classroom strategies teachers could adopt in handling students’ misdemeanors. In the
open forum several teachers such as Mam Susana Torrenueva and Sir Benjie Ilagan of
Filipino Department, and Mam Jenet Belisario of AP Department shared some insights
about students’ discipline emphasizing the concept of positive discipline as an effective
way to manage misbehaving students in the classroom, rather than using punishment or
rewards.

After a thorough discussion, the resource speaker ended her talk by sharing an
inspiring quote to be pondered upon. Mam Donnabel Mirandilla together with the two
principals Mam Alicia Quinito and Mam Joan Malaluan awarded the token and certificate
of commendation to the resource speaker. Further, after the talk of the discussant
another message was given by the principal- the MANCOM updates. She mentioned some
of the salient information which was discussed during the conference. And then Mam
Joan Malaluan, our assistant principal gave challenge to the participants and the
acceptance in behalf of the participants was given by Sir Ramil Tadios of MAPEH
Department, afterwards a closing remark was delivered by Mam Lourdes Sabanal, OIC
of MAPEH Department. And finally, the certificate of participation were handed out to
the attendees. The sixth SLAC session ended past five o'clock in the afternoon.
