Design Of Piles, Pile Cap, Pier & Pier Cap - 18.3 M Span For Pier No'S P1
Subject & P2
- Height Upto 1.9M - Br. No. 72
1 INTRODUCTION
This note presents the typical design of a bridge substructure containing pier with deep
foundation. Design of pile foundation, pile cap, pier, pier cap and pedestal for a pier height upto
1.9m, measured from the top of pile cap is covered in this note. This design is applicable to the
bridges with clear span 18.3m only.
For Bridge 72, this design is applicable for PIER NO'S P1 & P2

The structure has been analysed by finite element method using MIDAS civil software. In FE model of
the pier, the Pier wall, pier cap & pile cap are modeled as area element. Piles are modeled with Line
elements.
