Matching Problematic Learning Situation with Probable
Action

Name of FS Student: RAP-RAP A. MORALES Year & Section: 401

Course: BACHELOR OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION Date:

To have a meaningful and successful accomplishment in this FS Episode, be sure

to read through the whole episode before participating and assisting in your FS 2
Resource Teacher’s Class. Note all the information you will need and tasks you will need
to do before working on this episode.
Objectives:
At the end of this Learning Episode, I must be able to:
 Analyze teaching-learning problems prevailing in the classroom
 List matching action as a probable solution to the teaching learning problems.
Content of the Lesson:
Matching Problematic Learning Situations with Probable Actions as Solution
Identifying a problem is a tricky task. Action research begins with identifying a
problem. Oftentimes, it is one of the difficult things to begin with. When a researcher
was asked: “have you identified a problem for your action research?” Common answer
will be: “My problem is that, I do not have everything a problem.” Ironical, isn’t it?
If you observe and notice closely the teaching-learning environment in the
classroom, you will discover of lot of problematic situations. You must have also
observed these problematic situations when you did your FS 1 course.
But matching these problems with appropriate action is trickier. A group of more
than six hundred was surveyed and asked what teaching-learning problems confront
them. Here are their answer put together in a wordle.
Study the wordle below. Each word represents an issue or a problem which was
reported by teacher in the field. Which of the words do you recognize as a problem?
Draw a CIRCLE around five words that you have also identified as problems in teaching-
learning.

Each of the identified problem that you encircled has a corresponding action or solution.
Identified Problems Action as Solution

Participate and assist

What five problems have you identified from the words that you have encircled? Make a
statement. Write in the space below.

The problems I identified are:

1. FINANCIAL
It is one of the most challenging dilemmas of a poor students knowing the fact
that the rising rate of inflation is very alarming wherein there are so many
pending fees and queued payables.
2. BULLYING
It is still rampant nowadays, where there is lot of students having hard time to
participate in class due to this problem that is still alarming. Depriving the
students to get out from their comfort zone and excel in their chosen field.
3. BEHAVIOUR
It is one of the most lingering problems our teachers are facing which is the
behaviour of the students. It is a great barrier in delivering and implying the
lesson towards the learners.
4. VENTILATION
It is one of the contributing factors why most of the students are not
comfortable in learning, it is because of the environment itself, it wasn’t able to
give the students a cozy and convenient place to learn
5. TEACHER
There are numbers of teachers who became ineffective due to the personal
disturbances and other profound problems that they are carrying, it is the
reason why teachers became dispirited.

Excellent! Let us see how we can assist and learn at the same time.
Suppose, the problem you have spotted is: BULLYING
How can you assist your mentor, after knowing that the learners have difficult in
comprehension?
Make a Choice for your ACTION
A. Call the attention of every student to stop the bullying.
B. Conduct a symposium that deals with alleviating the situation of bullying.
C. Develop a clear system for reporting and investigating bullying.
Suppose you chose Letter A, calling the attention of the students. So you have
identified the SOLUTION that matches the PROBLEM which is Bullying.
The Problem is: The Action is:

BALLOONING RATE OF
BULLYING
CALL THE ATTENTION OF EVERY
Can you also choose letter B: Conducting a symposium asTO
STUDENT a SOLUTION for the
STOP BULLYING
same PROBLEM?
I believe there is a great beneficial factor that conducting a symposium regarding
with alleviating the situation of bullying. In this way it will allow to open the eyes of the
student especially to those who are bully that there is none positive impact with
bullying. That it only aggravate the situation there are more consequences that might be
faced by someone who is a bully. It only creates a negative impact towards the victims
that might cause a serious traumas and fear. I believe in this certain way it will alleviate
and at least suppress the alarming status of bullying.
The Problem is: The Action is:

BALLOONING RATE OF
BULLYING CONDUCTING A SYMPOSIUM

What about Letter C as a SOLUTION to

other same PROBLEM? YES. Why?
I firmly believe that every problem there is an affiliated solution so that is why
there must a clear system for reporting and investigating bullying in a way that there
will be an immediate response and to address the adversity instantly. There so need to
wait for something and someone, the school itself is responsible in resolving this
ballooning dilemma. There is no time to waste, we cannot afford to have a next victim
for us to act and respond, every victim must not be neglected instead it must be
addressed.
The Problem is: The Action is:

BALLOONING RATE OF
DEVELOP A CLEAR SYSTEM FOR
BULLYING
REPORTING AND INVESTIGATING
BULLYING.

Interesting isn’t it? Now, you can assist your mentor by identifying observed
problems in the class and suggest actions to be done.
NOTICE
What have you noticed of the problem identified above? Can there be more than
one solution to the problem? YES. Explain
There are still lots of solution in this problem aside from those aforementioned
but I think the most effective way in solving the problem is creating and innovating an
inclusive environment by promoting diversity and discrepancy among every individual,
in this certain means learners are expected to understand that each one of us are
different, unique and exceptional. We have different roles we usually play by that we
could able to create a protective community environment that deals and modify the
physical and social environment that later on it will intervene to lessen harms and
prevent future risk.

Guide Questions
Let us try to look into the following scenarios in the daily life of a teacher. This scenario
might also be similar to the class you have observed and noticed.

Scenario A:
Miss Fely is a grade four teacher in a typical elementary school. She has forty
learners in her class; one half of them cannot classify animals into vertebrates and
invertebrates. She has been repeating the same Science lesson for two weeks, yet no
progress was observed. This situation has been bothering Miss Fely.

 Can you identify Miss Fely’s problem?

Miss Fely is grade four teacher in an elementary school, in which she has over
forty learners and half of it them cannot classify animals into vertebrates and
invertebrates even though same science lesson is constantly repeated for two
consecutive weeks but still there is none progress at all
 Can you find a solute on to solve her problems?
Yes, definitely I can
 Give your two suggestions
Chiefly, Miss Fely must utilize any scaffold that will help in the learning process;
one of it is the utilization of the visual aids and charts with the classifications of
animals on the topmost part which it will basically allow them to learn more. It
will be so easy for them to comprehend the differences of the animals fromm
vertebrates and invertebrates. She could even use any video presentation to the
betterment of the learners for they will surely lean their ears and draw attention
to the lesson because of the literacy that is being used.
Second, is to create any games and programs that will allow the students to
understand, comprehend and remember the lesson, by means of having
groupings and collaboration with the peers and classmates. We have this theory
of education the learning by doing. It is the idea that we learn more when we
actually “do” the activity to adapt and learn.
 What solution can solve Miss Fely’s problem?
Among the two suggestions, the most preferable suggestion for better learning is
the second one.
 How?
In a way that learning by doing can build initiative for the learners for new things
as well as persistence towards growth and development in a field. This could
basically lead to team management and collaboration between the learners and
the skill growth. These are vital things in personal growth as we move towards
the future. In this way they are practicing their critical thinking skills and putting
their knowledge to the test. In this form of learning it also gives opportunities for
students to actively create knowledge instead of being passive.
 Are they matched with the problem?
Yes, the proposed solution I created will objectively help Miss Fely with her
problem. This is to suppress the poor understanding and low level of grasping the

Scenario B: Sir Ryan teacher in a disadvantaged urban community. Most of his learners
come from families that are disrupted, either with single parents or with their guardians
who stand only as parents. They are deprived of the necessary food, clothing and
shelter.

 Can you identify the most probable teaching-learning problems/s in the

class of Sir Ryan?
a. I think it would be insufficient student motivation; the environment itself is the
contributing factor to the learners so if the environment is not that comely and
encouraging then expect that students will be dispirited in learning especially
Self-Learning Activity

A. After reading the two scenarios given above, how would identifying
problematic situations and finding solutions to these problems help you become a
better teacher?
Explain:
This allow me to be even more vigilant, it opened my eyes to the reality that
there are problems around the corner that needs our help and our reflection. This will
help me in my future career to be more socially aware with what is happening inside the
four corners of the room. This enables me to easily identify the disparity and to be able
to create answer for a better termination.

B. Here are some problematic situations in these teaching learning environment

as observed and experienced by the teacher. Match the problems listed in Column
A with corresponding probable solutions in Column B. you may use the letter

Using any one example of problems in this activity, answer the AR prompts that follow:

OBSERVE
What problematic situation prevails in the classroom?
There are tons of problematic situations that arise inside the classroom and
these are behaviour of the students, lack of administrative support, the scarcity of the
classroom supplies and equipment, lack of parental support and assistance, large
quantity size of the students, students become overly dependent to the teachers, the
disturbing personalities of the students, students get bored and unmotivated and many
more. These are just the façade of the problems that arises inside the four corners of the
classroom.

REFLECT
What changes do you want to achieve?
This is not the ideal teaching arena but it is inevitable because it is the reality
once we are deployed in the field. What we need to do is to be holistically prepared and
fully equipped embedded with so many alternatives ways and plans how to deals such
problems and instances by this I could be able to alleviate the current situations and to
address the lingering problems of the teachers. I really want to work to bring a quality
to our learners giving them a meaningful teaching-learning process allowing them to
learn without any pressures and forces.

PLAN
What strategies will you use to improve the situation?
To effectively improve the situations, I will start within myself I have to ask
myself if there is a problem because it might be the source of problems why it is all
happening. Next is to conduct an assembly meeting and I will be transparent with all the
happenings inside my class, the way how their students behave and act while the lesson
is ongoing. I have to make sure that I will do some home visitation, it is my
responsibility to build connection with the parents to easily access them in any
certainties and to be able to build a great rapport with both students and parents.
Lastly, it will always depend with the teacher, the way how he handle his self despite
the situations, the way how he implemented the classroom rules without aggravating
anyone, and to cultivate the sense of being a good role model to the students while
surreptitiously reinforcing and modifying the behaviour of the students creating a good
camaraderie and a sense of socializing without knowing that they are slowly and
gradually changing their unethical behaviour.

ACT
What would be the title of your Action Research should you conduct the study?

“IMPROVING THE PERFORMANCE OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PUPILS WITH
STRATEGIC INTERVENTION MATERIAL (SIM)”
II. AUTHOR:
RONELA ENCINAS

III. Abstract
This paper attempted to prove that the Strategic Intervention Material (SIM)
can significantly address the least mastered skills and learning competencies
from the K-12 curriculum guide. Different and multiple activities were
created in order to improve and make the pupil understand difficult concepts
about the subject matter. Assessments were made and subjected to parallel
testing. The items in the test were analyzed. The activities were finalized and
administered in T. Elementary School, with 23 Grade IV pupils as
respondents. The mean, mastery and performance level on the actual lesson
and the utilization of SIM were computed. The results were also compared.
The mastery and performance level before and after the use of the Strategic
Intervention Material were interpreted. It showed that there was significant
difference on the mastery and performance levels of pupils. This suggests that
the utilization of SIM helps the pupils to master the difficult and least
mastered competencies.

IV. Identify the Problem in the Study

The study's problem is that students are having difficulty understanding how
to improve their performance level through the use of multiple activities.
