1 เรื่อง ตาแหน่งของ Adjective

Adjective (คำคุณศัพท์) หมำยถึง คำใช้ขยำยคำนำม หรือสรรพนำม
เพื่อที่จะบอกลักษณะเพิ่มเติมของคำที่จะขยำยนั้นว่ำเป็นอย่ำงไร และทำให้คำนำม
นั้นๆ เกิดควำมชัดเจนมำกขึ้น เช่น good, small, black, thin, fat, clever, etc.
ตำแหน่งของ Adjective
คำคุณศัพท์มีตำแหน่งกำรวำงได้ 3 จุดคือ
1. วำงไว้หน้ำคำนำม เพื่อทำหน้ำที่ขยำยนำม (noun) เช่น
- He is a good boy.
good เป็นคำ Adjective boy เป็นคำ noun
- It is a white dog.
white เป็นคำ Adjective dog เป็นคำ noun
2. วำงไว้หลัง Verb to be เพื่อบรรยำยลักษณะของประธำนประโยค เช่น
- Ann is beautiful.
beautiful เป็นคำ Adjective is เป็น verb to be
- The elephants are big.
big เป็นคำ Adjective are เป็น verb to be
3. วำงไว้หลัง Linking Verbs (ตัวเชื่อมระหว่ำงประธำนกับคำนำมหรือ
คำคุณศัพท์ เพื่อขยำยหรือเน้นย้ำประธำนกับสิ่งที่มันเชื่อม) ได้แก่ become
(กลำยเป็น), feel (รู้สึก), look (ดูเหมือน), sound (ออกเสียง), seem
(เหมือนว่ำ), taste (มีรส), remain (เหลืออยู่) เช่น
- She looks sad.
sad เป็นคำ Adjective look เป็น Linking Verb
- This durian tastes sweet.
sweet เป็นคำ Adjective taste เป็น Linking Verb

คำ Adjective ในภำษำอังกฤษแบ่งออกเป็นหลำยชนิดด้วยกัน แต่ชนิดของคำ Adjective ที่
มักจะพบเห็นและใช้ในภำษำอังกฤษบ่อยครั้ง มีดังนี้

1. Descriptive Adjective คือ คำคุณศัพท์ที่ใช้บอกลักษณะและคุณสมบัติ

ของคำนำมว่ำมีลัษณะอย่ำงไร เช่น good, bad, tall, short, black, white, fat, thin,
thick, foolish, clever, rich, poor, happy, sad, angry, ugly, beautiful, big, small,
hungry, thirsty, etc.

Examples: The rich man lives in a big house.

That beautiful woman is foolish.

2. Demonstrative adjective (คุณศัพท์ชี้เฉพำะหรือนิยมคุณศัพท์) หมำยถึง

คำคุณศัพท์ที่ใช้ระบุถึงนำมต่ำง ๆ เช่น This, That, These, Those, Such, Any,
Another, Some, Other, etc.

Examples: That girl is crying.

These are my books.

3. Distributive Adjective คือ คำคุณศัพท์ที่ใช้ในกำรแยกนำมต่ำงๆ ออกจำกกัน

เช่น each, every, either…or, neither…nor

Example: Each boy and each girl are lovely.

Every person has his or her own style.

4. Interrogative Adjective คือ คุณศัพท์ที่ใช้ขยำยนำมเพื่อให้เป็นคำถำม

โดยจะวำงไว้ต้นประโยคและมีนำมตำมหลังเสมอ เช่น what, which, whose
Example: Whose car is this?
Which color do you like most?

5. Proper Adjective คือ คุณศัพท์ที่ใช้ขยำยนำมเพื่อบอกสัญชำติ ซึ่งมีกำร

เปลี่ยนรูปจำก Proper noun เช่น

Examples: Justin Bieber is an American singer.

I like Korean series.

6. Numeral Adjective คือ คำคุณศัพท์ที่ใช้บอกจำนวนที่แน่นอนของนำม เช่น

one, two, three หรือบอกควำมทวีคูณของนำม เช่น double, triple และบอกลำดับที่
ของนำม เช่น first, second, last เป็นต้น
Examples: I have two dogs in my house.
He gets double points from the games.
December is the last month of the year.

7. Possessive Adjective คือ คุณศัพท์ที่ใช้ในกำรขยำยนำมเพื่อบอกควำมเป็น

เจ้ำของของนำม ได้แก่ my, your, our, his, her, its และ their
Example: My parents are kind.
Your school is big.

8. Quantitative Adjective คือ คำคุณศัพท์บอกปริมำณ เพื่อบอกให้ทรำบว่ำ

มีปริมำณของสิ่งเหล่ำนั้นมำกน้อยเพียงใด แต่ไม่ได้ระบุจำนวนทีแ่ น่นอน เช่น much,
many, little, few, some, any, enough, half, all, etc.

Examples: There are many books in the library.

I have few dollars in my wallet.
