After everyone was through with their sharing, Mr. Jerrey Aguilar read the objectives of the
Heritage Youth Camp.

A suggestion by Mr. Eduardo Maglajos was put forward. According to him, youth responders
should at least know about first aid survival activities”. In his defense, Mr. Jungee Madronero said,
“Supposedly, there was an activity set for that [doing first aid] but due to the undesirable weather, it
was not realized. If both the wilderness and the first aid [activities] will be part of the event, it will
definitely take the whole day”.

Another suggestion was given by Mr. Dalagan of Dauis. He said, “naay dapat gamay nga
workshop kada municipality for the youth [so that] they will be more acquainted with their town’s
history.”

An assessment of activities per day was done after the discussion on the objectives of the
Heritage Youth Camp. Everyone shared their comments based on their personal experiences. These
were the comments given by the participants:

DAY 0

“We encountered problems because we were not aware about the area assigned per town.
There were no markers on the site and the instruction was unclear” shared Mr. Maglajos of Catigbian.
The BOKAG team responded to Mr. Maglajos’ concern, “your coordinator was actually given all of the
information during our coordination meeting. Unfortunately, she was not able to come and assist you
because of her Ulcer.”

For the Dauis participants, improper dissemination of information by their LGU, the location or the
accessibility of the campsite and the road situation were a few of the problems they encountered. To
respond to that, Mr. Aguilar assured them that for the next camp, the actual participants are to attend
the coordination meeting. In addition to that, the team will double check everything that will be needed
for the camp especially the establishment of proper signage for each municipality. For the next camp,
there will also be a provided assistant for each town.
Mr. Madronero, the Camp Director clarified that the owner of the campsite promised to take
responsibility of the putting up of the signage but unfortunately none were positioned during the
event.

DAY 1

 For the registration, the Catigbian group proposed that a specific secretariat should have been
assigned to assist each town.
 For the Holy Mass, the participants recommended that there should be a multi-faith service
because not everyone who attended were Roman Catholics.
 For the lectures on the Natural Heritage, the participants suggested the following:
o Interactive speakers,
o Handouts for the participants,
o Visibility of the visuals and simplification of terms being used (common words).
 For the social’s night, since the coordinator for Catigbian was absent, the participants were
unaware about the town performance they were supposed to do. However, they were able to
do a last minute practice.

DAY 2

Strengths for the campsite activities include the facilitator, the direct-to-the-point learning
activities and the mobility of the participants. Weakness mentioned were due to lack of water, and
clogged and stinky comfort rooms.
For the heritage lectures, Ms. Andoy of Catigbian recognized the strength in the
connection/closeness of venues and the weakness in the lack of time for exploration. Mr. Dalagan of
Dauis saw the strength in the acquisition of deeper knowledge (visual and experiential learning) and
gained a new perspective on the cultural sites, the beauty of the venue and on the showcase of
Napoleon Abueva’s exhibit. For the weakness, Mr. Dalagan backed what Ms. Andoy pointed out as
regard the lack of time for exploration.
Mr Luspo’s lecture was seen by the participants as interactive and very informative however
the time allotted was not sufficient enough for the topics covered. Recommendations for the heritage
lectures include the clarification and the finalization of the venue, cultural training to obtain sufficient
knowledge of the team leaders in answering the participants’ inquiries.
Strengths for the Wilderness Classrooms were recognized as follows: very informative and
enjoyable lectures, validated lectures, inclusive activities and knowledgeable facilitators.
Weaknesses, on the otherhand, include lack of drinking water for the participants, the enforcement of
the camp suits (attire) and the lack of cooperation by the participants who are uninterested by the
activities. Recommendations include limiting the number of observers in the activity areas and the
necessity of having health monitoring devices/personnel present.
For the Mr. and Ms. Bibo Bohol 3, the showcase of talents & creativity upholding the thinking
abilities of the youth and the energetic and spontaneous master of ceremonies were seen as
strengths. However, the inability of the event to start on time was seen as a weakness. The
recommendation of the participants for this event is the provision of materials for the costumes.

DAY 3

For the amazing cultural race, the strengths were recognized as follows: team work and
cooperation, time lining of the activities, experience over competition and the design of the race
complementing the objectives. On the other hand, the unavailability of drinking water and the
checking of the facilitators were seen as weaknesses. The participants stressed that the presence of
an adult is a must during the cultural race. For the closing of the event, the strengths seen were
through the team performances, the performances of KS and the costumes worn. However, the
facilitation of the performance creation and the exhaustion of the participants were seen as
weaknesses. Recommendations given by the participants include creative tasks on each control point
which would be used for the performances and separate creative/cultural with ecological activities.

DAY 4

During the break camp, the weakness was the after care and it was suggested that town
leaders should still facilitate in the after care.
