Compound sentence has two independent clauses or parts


combined to form a single sentence. If these parts are separated,
they can stand on their own since they have a complete meaning.

There are words that are used to connect words, phrases, and
clauses to make compound words. It is called coord.inating
conjunctions. Let’s find out those words.

To easily remember the words, the teacher will show a picture to


find out what connects the words.
In the previous lesson, you learned about compound words,
combining pictures and words to find the word we seek.

What are FANBOYS?


FANBOYS is an acronym that stands for the seven most common
coordinating conjunctions in English grammar. These coordinating
conjunctions are for, and, nor, but, or, yet, and so.

In the example below, the compound sentence also expresses a cause-


and-effect relationship.

Air pollution has bad effects on our health for,

How do you identify the cause and effect?


A cause is something that allows another thing to happen while
an effect is the event that happens because of the cause.
