 Pupils watch a simple song video of a sailor that went to the sea.
Starter  Pupils are asked to talk about the video.
2. Pupils listen to the teacher's explanation of the lesson objectives and success criteria
to be achieved and their relevance to the topic of the lesson.
3. Pupils listen to teacher’s explanation of the learning content.
 Pupils carry out activity with guidance.
 Pupils are asked to listen to the song again and remember two animals or more
which the sailor saw.
Main Activities  Pupils sing along to the song with actions.
 Pupils look at an animal flashcard/drawing and are asked on which word the
picture goes with. This step is continued with other five animals in the song.
 Pupils write three points about the animals in their exercise books.
4. Pupils complete the exercise based on the topic that has been discussed.
5. Pupils summarise the lesson.

Main Activities
 In pairs, pupils are given cards.
 Each pupil shuffles their flashcards and places them on the desk face-down.
 Pupils begin the game by revealing one care and placing it in the middle.
 The pupil has to say the word depicted on the card.
 The other pupil continues the game by placing one of his/ her cards in the middle
with his/ her and and call out “Snap!” takes them.
 The pupil who collects the most cards is the winner.
6. Pupils complete the exercise based on the topic that has been discussed.

 Pupils are given a worksheet and ask tell who went on holiday [James].
 Pupils answer some questions about James’s email. There are 5 questions
around the room.
 Pupils, in pairs, should take it in turns to go and find the question, read and
remember it, return to their partner and tell the partner. Together they should find
the answer in the text.
 The partner writes the answer. Then they swap roles for the next question. The
pupil writing must be sitting at the desk and the pupil reading the question cannot
take the question off the wall or shout it to their partner – they must remember it
and tell it to the partner.
 Pupils checks the answers as a whole class.
 Pupils look at the picture on textbook page 91.
 Pupils tell the teacher about the boy in the picture and where they think he is.
 Pupils listen to the audio and read along with it.
 Pupils refer to the Writing Tip on page 91.
 Pupils are asked to look again at James’s email.
 Pupils find and tell their partner two or three similarities and two or three
differences between his holiday and Tim’s holiday. Some suggestions:
Similarities:
It was hot in Australia and Mexico.
Tim and James took pictures.
Tim and James enjoyed (liked) their holiday.
Tim and James were at the beach. Tim and James went swimming and sailed a
boat.
Differences:
Tim was in Mexico but James was in Australia.
Tim bought a hat but James didn’t buy anything.
James’s dad saw a shark but Tim’s dad didn’t see a shark. (we think)
 Pupils write at least one similarity and one difference on the worksheet
individually.
5. Pupils complete the exercise based on the topic that has been discussed.
6. Pupils summarise the lesson.

 Half of the class are given the past text (A1) and half
of the class get the present text (B1).
 Next, pupils are given the gapped texts (A2, B2, so

 Pupils fill in the texts with the correct form of be.
 Pupils with A with B are paired and they check their
answers.
 With their new partner, pupils write at least two
questions about the texts.
Main Activities

o Are there any computers?
o How is it at home?
 You could focus on the past text only if it is less
confusing for your pupils, but more proficient pupils
may be able to work on questions for the present
text too.
