Before the classes start, read the classroom standard rules, for the pupils to be reminded.
Call pupils to answer each question. Subtract the following numbers.

2. Review
Answer the problem given to recall the lesson on solving routine ad non-routine problems
involving addition.
Mario has 456 marbles and Roy has 231 chips. How many toys do the two boys have?
Show the process and answer on the power point presentation.
3. Motivation:
Show a short video about the story related to the lesson.
Answer the comprehension questions about the story.
How much money did Sarah’s father save from his work?
How much did cost the things Sarah needed for the contest?
Do you think Sarah’s father can buy things she needed for the contest?
Did his money have enough to buy those things?
If you had a lot of money, what would you do about it?
Explain how important money conservation is.
B. Developmental Activities:

Show another video about the process of subtraction which was related to the story given.
Explain further the lesson. Spell the words minuend, subtrahend, and difference for the pupils
to remember it. And give another example for better learning.

Present their answers and give a little explanation of the answers given.
4. Abstraction
Subtraction means to find the difference between two numbers. In a basic subtraction
problem, the minuend is the larger number, and the subtrahend is the smaller number. The
answer or solution to a subtraction problem is called the difference.
Steps in solving subtractions:
a. first align the numbers according to their place value.
b. subtract first the ones place up to thousands place.
c. check the answer by adding the difference and the subtrahend, if you get the answer like
the minuend given, then you have a correct answer.
