DIVISION 10: SPECIALTIES

SECTION 10440 - SIGNAGE

1. PART 1 - GENERAL

1.01 SECTION INCLUDES

A. Furnishing and installation of exterior and interior signs, in accordance with Drawings,
Schedules and specifications.

1.02 SUBMITTALS

A. Samples

1. Interior Signs: Submit 3 full size samples of each type of interior sign proposed
for the project. Each sample shall be identified on the back as to the type of sign
and proposed location.

2. Exterior Signs: Submit 3 samples to indicate type of construction, colors and

text.

B. Manufacturer's Descriptive Data:

1. Submit 3 copies of manufacturer's descriptive literature regarding the various

types of sign systems proposed.

2. Submit 3 copies of manufacturer's standard lettering styles and standard

pictographs to be used. Lettering styles shall be in Arabic and in English.

C. Shop Drawings:

1. Shop drawings showing size, materials and connection details of signage system.
Shop drawing shall also indicate power requirements, if applicable.

D. Color Chips:

1. Sixty days prior to placing order for signage, the Contractor shall submit a full
range of color chips for the signage system proposed.

E. Maintenance Instructions:

1. Submit 3 copies of manufacturer's maintenance instructions indicating type of

cleaning solutions to be used and procedures for proper care and repair.

1.03 PRODUCT HANDLING, DELIVERY AND STORAGE:

A. Deliver signage to site only after all painting is complete.

B. Factory fabricated units shall be delivered in manufacturer's original unopened labelled

packaging.

C. Handle all products in a manner so as to prevent damage.

1.04 SYMBOLS:

A. International symbols shall reflect the cultural mores of the client in Saudi Arabia, and
be subject to Engineer's approval.

2. PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.01 MATERIALS:

A. Lettering shall be in approved Arabic as well as English and as indicated on the project
documents.

B. Interior Signs:

1. Size, type, style and location of Interior signage system shall be as shown on the
project documents, unless indicated otherwise.

2. Signs shall be of color approved by the Engineer.

C. Exterior Signs:

1. Signs face plate shall be of minimum 3 mm thick aluminum with reflective vinyl
film, Engineering Grade, color as shown on drawings or as approved by the
Engineer. Back side of face plate shall have gray powder coated finish. Signs
shall be mounted on 76 mm dai., schedule 40, galvanized steel break-away post,
powder coated, color as approved by the Engineer. Post shall be installed in
concrete foundation confirming to requirements of Section 03300 - CAST-IN-
PLACE CONCRETE. Signs (symbles) shall be of sizes indicated on Drawings
and as approved by the Engineer.

3. PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.01 INSPECTION:

A. Examine grounds and blocking for signage installation to assure that support is
adequate.

B. Check that there are not foreign materials, moisture or irregularities that would prevent

installation of signage.

C. Check that electrical distribution for illuminated signage is complete.

D. Do not proceed with installation until defects are corrected.

3.02 INSTALLATION:

A. Install all signage in strict accordance to approved shop drawings and manufacturer's
written instructions.

B. Install all units level and plumb.

3.03 CLEANING:

A. Remove any smudges or finger marks prior to turn over of installation to Architect.
