STATISTICS - is a branch of Mathematics

that deals with the collection, organization,
presentation, analysis, and interpretation of
data.

A population is the entire group that you

want to draw conclusions about.

D. Application

Directions: Identify the population and

sample in the following problems.

1. A teacher is investigating the

effectiveness of an online teaching to
the students to serve as learning delivery
mode in this pandemic. He administers
the online teaching with the 20 students.

Exterior Angle Inequality Theorem:

The measure of an exterior

angle of a triangle is greater than the
measure of either remote interior
angle.

D. Application

Directions: Name the exterior angle/s of the

triangles shown in the figure.

The Quartile for Ungrouped Data

Quartiles – are the score points which
divide the distribution into four equal
parts.
Mendenhall and Sincich Method
Using Statistics for Engineering and the
Sciences, define a different method of
finding quartile values. To apply their
method on a data set with n elements,
first calculate:
Lower Quartile(L)=Position of Q1=
1
(n+1)

and round to the nearest integer. If falls
halfway between two integers, round up.
The Lth element is the lower quartile
value (Q1).
Upper Quartile(U)=Position of Q3=
3
(n+1)
4
round to the nearest integer. If u falls
halfway between two integers, round
down. The Uth element is the upper
quartile value (Q3)
D. Application

Direction: Find the value of Quartile 1, 2 and

Using scientific calculator, determine

the value of sin 63o,cos 63o, tan 63o then
compare them to the values obtained in
number 1. What do you observe?
Sin 63o = 0.89
cos 63o = 0.45
tan 63o = 1.96
