A Daily Lesson Plan in Uses appropriate graphs to represent organized data

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards: The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts, uses
and importance of statistics, data collection/ gathering and the different forms of data
representation, measures of central tendency, measures of variability, and probability.
Performance Standards: The learner can able to collect and organize data
systematically and compute accurately measures of central tendency and variability
and apply these appropriately in data analysis and interpretation in different fields.

B. Learning Competencies: The learner:

1. Uses appropriate graphs to represent organized data: pie chart, bar graph, line
graph, histogram and ogive (M7SP-IVd-e-1);
C. Learning Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
1. Recall the topic in the supplemental materials through an activity;
2. Understand the graphs of data in statistics and;
3. Understand the use of graphs of data in an appropriate way and cite examples
of where can it be used.

II. CONTENT
A. Topic: Graphs of data

DAILY ROUTINE
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
A. Prayer
May I request everyone to stand and let’s
start our day or discussion with a prayer.

Ms. Elise can you lead the prayer? Dear God,

We gather here today as a class, Grateful for
the opportunity to learn and grow. Bless our
minds with wisdom, Our hearts with
understanding, And our spirits with patience.
Guide our teacher as she led us through the
lesson, may her words inspire and enlighten us.
Grant us the strength to overcome challenges,
And the humility to seek help when needed. As
we embark on this journey of learning, may we
support and uplift one another, Creating an
environment of kindness and respect. In
moments of difficulty, grant us resilience, and
in moments of success, instill gratitude. May
this time together be fruitful and meaningful,
and may we leave here better than we arrived.
Amen.

B. Greetings
Good morning class. Good morning, ma’am

today.

So how was your day?

Okay that’s good to here.
We’re good ma’am.
C. Checking of Attendance
So, may I know who were absent today?

Okay that’s good to hear so we can now

proceed to our discussion today. No one is absent today ma’am.
INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITY
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
Before we start our lesson today let us have a simple
activity it is called 4 pics one 1 word, I know that you are
very familiar with this game already so just guess the word
using the given figure that is flash on the screen okay.
1. Line
2. Bar
3. Pie
4. Graph

A. Review
Last time we discussed about how to organize data “Yes ma’am”
in a frequency table right?
And today we are going to construct a graph using
the organize data.
DISCUSSION
Our topic for today is how to use appropriately all the
graphs to represent organized data but before that we need
to be familiar with different kinds of graph.
The types of graphs that can be used are:
1. Pie chart
2. Bar Graph
3. Line graph
4. Histogram
5. Ogive
So, what is pie chart? Pie chart- it is used to show how all the parts of
something are related to the whole. It is
represented by a circle divided into slices or
sectors of various sizes that show each part’s
relationship to the whole.

I know that most of you are familiar with pie, right? Like
egg pie, buko pie and many more so it is looks like that

when you get a slice out of it. So, these are some examples
of a pie chart.

Let’s have the bar graph anyone read?

Bar Graph- Uses rectangles or bar of uniform
Very good and we have two types of bar graph we have the width to represent data, particularly the
vertical bar graph normally called as column chart and the nominal or categorical type of data. The height
horizontal bar graph. Here are the examples of bar graph. of the rectangle denotes the frequency of the
variable.

Third we have the line graph anyone read? Line graph- used to represent changes in data
over a period of time. Data like changes in
temperature, income, population, and the like
can be represented by a line graph. Data are

of the examples.

Next one we have the histogram can anyone define what is Histogram- bar graph that shows the frequency

the bars are always vertical, the width of each
bar is based upon the size of the interval it
represents, and there are no gaps between

continuous range of possible values. These are some

examples of a histogram.

The last one is ogive so ogive is also called as cumulative

frequency graph or curve it is a graph plotted from a
cumulative frequency table. So here are some examples.

Do we have any questions with the types of graphs?

If none let’s group ourselves into four and let’s have a None ma’am
simple game and this is called pass and draw.

The mechanics of the game is everyone read.

Mechanics of the game:

Form a line according to what you like as a
group.
The person in front will go to the teacher and
listen carefully to the given information from
the teacher pass the message until the last
person in line.
The last person will go in front and draw the
given data using any type of graph the fastest
one will get the point.
Did you enjoy the game?
(Group 2 wins)
So, let’s have recap with our topic today what do you call “yes ma’am”
1. Pie chart
this type of graph?

2. Bar graph
3. Line graph
4. Histogram
5. Ogive
Very good so before we end our discussion today copy
your assignment and pass it in our next meeting.

ASSIGNMENT
Directions: Study the following scenarios and identify the appropriate graph to be used. Justify your answer.
1. You are the president in your class and your teacher asked you to check the attendance of your classmates
by subjects or by period that day. To know how many students are present every subject, you decided to
display it in a graph.

What appropriate graph will you use? Show an example.
