Rehiyon XI ang Project EAGLE-Elimination of Academic Gaps of Learners.

Project EAGLE. Aniya, “ I am really convinced that the stated objectives of the Project EAGLE
will be effectively achieved. As a teacher, I know how important it is for the parents, the school
and the learners to work as a team and as a family”.
The EAGLE has landed
“When learners from K to 3 have quality teaching and learning engagement, they will have
greater success in the subsequent levels of education ,”
Thus, the birth of Region XI’s Project EAGLE ((Elimination of Academic Gaps of
Learners in the Elementary) and Rizal Elementary School is one of the 22 schools privileged to
be part of making history in the field of education.
Project EAGLE is an intervention to increase learning outcomes of the learner in all
learning areas by allowing them to meet high expectations, content and performance standards
and to be able to achieve the diverse challenges of the 21st Century Skills.
With these in mind, Rizal ES is up for the challenge and is already making preparations
for the implementation of the project.
Preparing the Nest: Orientation of the identified pre-school teacher, Ana Marie
Quimpes, and the parents of the 45 pupils immediately started as early as June 2017.
In the physical aspect, the school and the parents altogether created and designed the
classroom befitting for the project. The parents also held a ‘bayanihan’ during Saturdays for the
clearing and landscaping of the lawn area.
Finally, a concrete sculpture of an eagle was constructed at the entrance of the school.
Another significant landmark that signifies the school’s full support of the project.
The Eaglets: The pupils, after learning that they have become the pioneers of the project
expressed their excitement. Their teacher, during her free time with her pupils said that most of
her pupils were delighted and excited because they are going to be with their beloved teacher
until Grade 3. They were smiling brightly as they babbled about how excited they are according
to her.
The parents were also positive of the idea because they will no longer undergo the
difficulty of looking for a suitable teacher when their children go to the next grade level.
They also said that their children will not make so much emotional adjustments and enjoy
the company of the same teacher for three years.
The wind beneath their wings: Aside from the full support of the parents and the pupils,
another key for the success of the implementation of the project is the teacher from whom the
pupils will rely and depend on for the first three years.
Teacher Ana Marie’s positive outlook ensures the best implementation of the project.
She says that the idea of working with one teacher for a long period will help children
enjoy a family-like learning environment . This clearly supports the smooth transition from home
to Early Childhood Education, prodding them to perform better and become better adults in the
near future.
“But the success of this project is not on the teacher alone as I cannot do it solely. But
with the help and support of the administration and my fellow teachers, together with the
unending support of the parents, Project EAGLE will hopefully be a success.
Indeed, with the strong teaching force of Rizal Elementary School headed by the
principal plus the support of the Panabo City Division, the EAGLE is ready to spread its wings,
take flight and soar high.

XI sina Quimpes at Antalan.

Pagkakaroon ng Family Day

School, parents fortify eagle’s nest

Two months since the EAGLE’s gracious landing in Rizal Elementary School, Adviser
Ana Marie Quimpes and her 45 pupils (morning and afternoon shift) had been very busy
preparing their “nest”.
The school and the parents have put their efforts in structuring the EAGLE’s classroom.
Paying more attention to the learning domains in Kindergarten, the adviser carefully thought out
the learning areas that would help develop the learner’s gross-motor skills, self-help skills and
reading skills development:
EAGLEs Reading Corner (Circle Time Area)- Kids easily develop their love for reading
if they are provided an avenue to do so. Thus, the teacher provides them with varied reading
materials plus phonics and musical toys which they can explore comfortably using the rubber
mats.
EAGLEs Playpen (Play Area)- Children learn better if they engage actively in the
learning process and the teacher has provided a space in the classroom where the learners can
actively participate through games, group activity etc. By providing them a play area, the motor
skills of the learners also developed.
EAGLEs Wooden Locker- To further develop the Eaglets sense of responsibility and
independence, the school provided two (2) wooden lockers for the safekeeping of their valuables
and other classroom related materials. Their self-help skills are then developed because they
attend to their things personally by independently arranging and storing them to their assigned
lockers.
On the other hand, the children already are enjoying the Manipulative learning materials
that were partially provided by the school. Ramelyn F. Antalan, the school principal has allotted
funds for the procurement of the said instructional materials.
Parents also get updated of their children’s development in various domains through the
Bulletin Board that was also newly installed. Announcements, conferences and other PROJECT
EAGLE related updates were also posted.
Activities from which the Eaglets actively participated in like the Nutrition Month,
Career Day, Buwan ng Wika can also be seen on the information board.
FUTURE PLANS
On the latest orientation for the Project EAGLE attended by the principal and the adviser,
the following activities were to be conducted for the better implementation of the project:
- Student mapping (scheduled on Saturdays)
- Parent Take-over of Classes-a monthly activity where a parent teaches reading
and other skill/s
-Family Day
Amidst the overlapping activities, the administration and the adviser did not falter to
make improvements in the physical structure of their classroom. The school wants to make sure
that everything is in order, well-documented and is in accordance with the guidelines of the
project. With that in mind, the landscaping and the signage fronting the classroom has already
been installed.
Teacher Ana Marie expressed her unending gratitude to the support of the Principal and
the parents. She said that all the support given boosts her morale thus propels her to continue and
do her best as the adviser of the kids.
The Eagle’s nest is now ready. Her nest is not just an ordinary classroom but it is THE
CLASSHOME of the EAGLETS where they can confidently grow in an environment that is
loving, nurturing and trusting.
