__10__ minutes

4.3 Explain (The teacher will start the discussion)

Distance is a space between two places and things. It has a start point and end

point.

Distance Formula is an equation that can be used to find the distance between any
pair of points on the coordinate plane. d=√((x_2-x_1)²+(y_2-y_1)²)

4.4. Elaborate (The teacher will provide examples)

1. Find the distance between P(1,3) and Q(7,11)

_15__ minutes To follow the distance between P and Q, the following procedure can be
followed.

 Let X1=1 Y1=3 X2=7 Y2=11

 Substitute the corresponding values of X1, Y1, X2, Y2
 Solve the equation.
 d=√((7-1)²+(11-3)²)
 d=√((6)²+(8)²)
 d=√(36+64)
 d=√100
 d=10

2. Find the distance between A(0,3)) and B(2,-3)

Ans: 2√10

3. If the distance of point (x,5) and (6,5) is 2, what is the equivalent of x?

Ans: 4

4.5 Evaluate Questions:

 What is the distance between the points (–1, –1) and (4, –5)?
 Find the two points of the form (x,−4) that have the same distance of 10 units
__10___minutes from the point (3,2).

5.Wrap-up/ Let all students to answer this in a ¼ sheet of paper.

Concluding Find the radius of a circle with a diameter whose endpoints are (–7, 1) and (1, 3).
