I. Project Title: Powered Trash Bin (P-Bin): A Smart Way to

Reduce Plastic Waste to Help Lessen Pollution

1.1 Coordinating Agencies

 Local Government Unit of Barangay 03, Lipa City,
Batangas
 Department of Environmental and Natural Resources
DENR of Barangay 03, Lipa City, Batangas
1.2 Project Location
 Barangay 03, Lipa City, Batangas

1.3 Project Beneficiaries

 The Department of Environment and Natural
Resources (DENR), the Commission will prescribe
policies to effectively achieve the objectives of RA 9003.
It will oversee the implementation of appropriate solid
waste management plans by end-users and local
governments as mandated by law.
 Local government unit (LGU) are primarily responsible
for the effective and efficient solid waste management,
particularly garbage segregation and disposal.

1.4 Project Costs

We are convinced that the project will cost fifteen thousand
pesos to make the Powered Trash Bin (P-Bin)

II. Rationale

In recent years the plastic consumption has increased manifolds

leading to accumulation of plastic waste in large amount. Plastic pollution
can alter habitats and natural processes, reducing ecosystems' ability to
adapt to climate change and directly affecting millions of people's livelihoods,
food production capabilities, and social well-being. One of the significant
challenges we are facing today is solid waste and solid waste management.
Plastic is harmful to our environment and health. Waste plastic bags being
non-biodegradable and extreme durability make their disposal process
difficult. It doesn't get disposed of in the soil or water. It remains in the
environment for hundreds of years and causes air, land, and water pollution.
The main cause of the problem is that people do not realize that they pollute
the environment with plastic by throwing trash anywhere without thinking of
the environmental consequences.

In our current situation, where is plastic waste management. The

Governments are key actors in the plastic value chain and there are several
things that they can do: First, they can eliminate the plastic products we do
not need, through bans. Governments can also promote innovation so the
plastic we need are designed and brought into the economy in a way that
allows for it to reuse. There are also has a number of actions that the plastic
industry can take to accelerate this systematic change: They can eliminate
problematic or unnecessary plastic packaging or products by redesigning
products for enhanced sustainability and innovating their business models to
move from single use to reusable plastic products.

In Lipa City alone, over 167 kilos of garbage are produced per day,
making it the second biggest waste generator in Batangas province. (JPAIR

disposal facilities are the common problems in developing our municipality.

technologies to support waste management activities in every municipality.

The purpose of this project is to create a smart trash bin to reduce plastic
waste and help lessen pollution.

III. General Objective:

The main purpose of this study is to create a smart trash bin to reduce
plastic waste to help lessen pollution in barangay 03, Lipa City Batangas.

Specific Objectives:

● To maximize the effectiveness of powered trash bin on

grinding the collected plastic waste.

● To manifest the efficiency of solar powered trash bin as a

renewable source of energy.

IV.History of the Barangay

Barangay Tres (03)

The star stands for a high aspiration that motivates people to put in a lot of
effort. a goal that, if attained, will inspire everyone around them to work
toward their own personal growth. The cloud is the widest part of the sky that
is similar to the eternal dream that everyone strives to achieve. The color of
the cloud represents the aspirations and wishes of every citizen of barangay
tres who will deliver the vast and fulfilled dreams. The color yellow
symbolizes the unity of every citizen. The circle is the symbol of endless
help, support, and solidarity with every citizen. The color green symbolizes
life, and every life must be protected. This plant represents the emergence of
new life. Each sprout represents the beginning of a new life, complete with a
new dream and the power to decide whether to rise or fall.

ALIGNMENT IN SDG

SDG 3: Good healthThe

 Plastics are a combination of polymers and additives. Additives are

chemical substances that are added to plastic to give it the properties
desired for commercial or industrial use, and include materials such
as plasticizers and flame retardants. Some of these substances
disturb the hormone balance in animals and humans.
 Avoiding health risks
 Substantially reduce the number of deaths and illnesses from
hazardous chemicals and air, water and soil pollution and
contamination.

SDG 6: Clean water and sanitation

 The sixth sustainability goal determines that the quality of freshwater

must be improved. The pollution of inland bodies of water must be
reduced and much more water needs to be purified in order to
increase the amount available for safe consumption.

 Avoiding health risks

 Improve water quality by reducing pollution, eliminating dumping and

minimizing release of hazardous chemicals and materials, halving the
proportion of untreated wastewater and substantially increasing
recycling and safe reuse globally.

SDG 7: Affordable and clean energy

 Ensure universal access to affordable, reliable and modern energy

services
 Increase substantially the share of renewable energy in the global
energy mix.

SDG 11: Sustainable cities and communities

is missing in many cities and other
residential communities. This causes many problems, especially in
areas of dense population.

 Preventing plastic in the environment

 Avoiding health risks

 The absolute reduction of plastic

SDG 12: Responsible consumption and production

 Mass production and consumption of plastic, especially that of single-

use packaging plastic, are major contributors to plastic pollution in the

sea and on land. The pollution has a negative influence on the

functioning of ecosystems and endangers animal lives as well as the

food supply of large groups of people. Burning all the plastic as a form

of waste-management contributes to toxic air pollution.

 Achieve the sustainable management and efficient use of natural

resources

 Substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction,

recycling and reuse

SDG 13: Climate action

 BATANGAS
The reduction STATE

temperature increase of two degrees is an extremely urgent

environmental goal. But a choice for plastic driven by that

consideration does not take the end-of-life damage that plastic causes

to the environment into account.

 Integrate climate change measures into policy and planning

 Build knowledge and capacity to meet climate change

 The absolute reduction of plastic

SDG 14: Life below water

 The fourteenth sustainability goal is aimed at avoiding and strongly

reducing the pollution in the sea, especially from waste that originates

on land. Cleaning up plastic from beaches and capturing the plastic at

sea are important, but overall, these efforts are of little help if the flow

of plastic is not reduced at the same time.

 Prevent marine pollution, particularly from land-based activities

 Preventing plastic in the environment

 Avoiding health risks

 The absolute reduction of plastic
