I. Project Title: Powered Trash Bin (P-Bin): A Smart Way to

Reduce Plastic Waste to Help Lessen Pollution

1.1 Coordinating Agencies

 Local Government Unit of Barangay 03, Lipa City,
Batangas
 Department of Environmental and Natural Resources
DENR of Barangay 03, Lipa City, Batangas
1.2 Project Location
 Barangay 03, Lipa City, Batangas

1.3 Project Beneficiaries

 The Department of Environment and Natural
Resources (DENR), the Commission will prescribe
policies to effectively achieve the objectives of RA 9003.
It will oversee the implementation of appropriate solid
waste management plans by end-users and local
governments as mandated by law.
 Local government unit (LGU) are primarily responsible
for the effective and efficient solid waste management,
particularly garbage segregation and disposal.

1.4 Project Costs

We are convinced that the project will cost fifteen thousand
Three Hundred pesos (15,300) to make the Powered Trash
Bin (P-Bin)

II. Rationale

In recent years the plastic consumption has increased manifolds

leading to accumulation of plastic waste in large amount. Plastic pollution
can alter habitats and natural processes, reducing ecosystems' ability to
adapt to climate change and directly affecting millions of people's livelihoods,
food production capabilities, and social well-being. One of the significant
challenges we are facing today is solid waste and solid waste management.
Plastic is harmful to our environment and health. Waste plastic bags being
non-biodegradable and extreme durability make their disposal process
difficult. It doesn't get disposed of in the soil or water. It remains in the
environment for hundreds of years and causes air, land, and water pollution.
The main cause of the problem is that people do not realize that they pollute
the environment with plastic by throwing trash anywhere without thinking of
the environmental consequences.

In our current situation, where is plastic waste management. The

Governments are key actors in the plastic value chain and there are several
things that they can do: First, they can eliminate the plastic products we do
not need, through bans. Governments can also promote innovation so the
plastic we need are designed and brought into the economy in a way that
allows for it to reuse. There are also has a number of actions that the plastic
industry can take to accelerate this systematic change: They can eliminate
problematic or unnecessary plastic packaging or products by redesigning
products for enhanced sustainability and innovating their business models to
move from single use to reusable plastic products.

In Lipa City alone, over 167 kilos of garbage are produced per day,
making it the second biggest waste generator in Batangas province. (JPAIR

disposal facilities are the common problems in developing our municipality.

technologies to support waste management activities in every municipality.

The purpose of this project is to create a smart trash bin to reduce plastic
waste and help lessen pollution.

III. General Objective:

The main purpose of this study is to create a smart trash bin to reduce
plastic waste to help lessen pollution in barangay 03, Lipa City Batangas.

Specific Objectives:

● To maximize the effectiveness of powered trash bin on

grinding the collected plastic waste.

● To manifest the efficiency of solar powered trash bin as a

renewable source of energy.

IV.History of the Barangay

Barangay Tres (03)

The star stands for a high aspiration that motivates people to put in a lot of
