NARRATIVE REPORT

April 7, 2024

A thorough examination of the fundamentals of dancesport kicked off the first day of the
two-day technical officials’ refresher course. Mr. Mar Gauden Aceron, tournament manager of
the dancesport competition, enlightened the participants on the subtle nuances that
characterize this ever-changing field. Participants studied the new guidelines that the
Department of Education had painstakingly created, which complied perfectly with the strict
requirements that the World Dancesport Federation (WDSF) and the Philippine Dancesport
Federation (PDSF) have put down.
A fascinating discussion took place, revealing the technological applications that are
present in every step and syllabus used in both Latin American and modern standard
disciplines. Enthusiastically participating, they absorbed knowledge and methods essential for
judging in these fascinating categories. A great deal of care was taken to clarify the dress
restrictions for the junior and juvenile categories, making sure that everyone followed the rules
and creating a professional environment.
The day was ended with a reminder to study hard and practice well for the written and
practicum the next day.

As morning rose on the second day, an apparent feeling of anticipation filled the air as
participants awaited a day packed with practical examinations and experience learning. The
morning began with a written examination to assess the comprehension and competency of the
assembled technical officials and coaches of the dancesport competition.
Following the evaluative phase, the training transitioned seamlessly into a dynamic
practicum, wherein technical officials took to the floor, their movements synchronized to the
pulsating rhythms of the samba and the unity dance. An aura of camaraderie pervaded as
officials showcased their expertise, seamlessly integrating theoretical knowledge with practical
application.
Simultaneously, coaches undertook their own rigorous challenges, tasked with
showcasing their prowess in a diverse array of dances. From the elegant finesse of the tango
and quickstep to the exuberant vitality of the cha-cha-cha and jive, coaches demonstrated their
mastery, captivating the audience with their artistry and precision. Groups were delineated
based on their respective units, fostering a collaborative spirit and fostering mutual growth and
development.
The training-seminar was concluded with acknowledgement of the trainers who excelled
in the said activity.
