(Activity 1)

When shouted, part of the sound waves you

created hit an opposing hard wall or surface.
Part of the sound was reflected by the wall,
that is why you heard the same sound again.

to a big hard wall. The sound we made
bounces back very fast, and it mixes with the
original sound. We cannot tell which the
original sound is and which the echo is.

Like light, sound can also be reflected. The

reflected sound is called an echo. And a series
of echo is called reverberation. An echo is
produced in closed areas like domes and
churches. Echo can be used to detect objects in
a certain area. This process is called
echolocation.

(Activity 2)

When sound come in contact with different

materials like walls or carpets, they are either
reflected or absorbed. Some materials reflect
sound and cause echoes, hard surface like flat
concrete walls is good at reflecting sounds.
Example: Concert halls are covered with
carpet and curtains because these materials
absorb the sound. So, the sound that will be
heard by the audience is the initial/ original
sound instead of a reflected sound which is
neither an echo nor a reverberation.

Activity 3

Bats live just about everywhere. The hunt at

night, sleep in the hidden places like caves and
old buildings during the day and for the most
part., feed on insects, pollen, flowers and fruit.
Most species of bats rely on echolocation to
help them find their food. This is why it is no
problem at all for them to be able to catch
insects in complete darkness.
Echolocation is the transmission of sound
waves to locate objects.

Activity 4

Whales, among other sea animals, use

echoes to move and find their way through the
sometimes-murky depths of the deep ocean.
They send out high-pitched sounds (i.e. clicks)
which are bounced off an object and returned
to the whale. The whale can then determine
how far away the object is. Whale is
incredibly intelligent. Other than the distance,
they can also determine such things as texture.,
shape and size of the object. This helps them in
deciding on where the prey and the different
objects around the ocean may be.
The study of echoes is very important
because our navies use a form of echolocation
called radar to locate such things as other ships
and the sea floor.

Blind persons also use echolocation. This

is called human echolocation. They have the

The loudness of a sound wave depends on
the energy of the wave or how strong a
sound seems to us. The pitch of a sound
depends on the frequency, while the
loudness of a sound depends on the energy
of sound waves.

How do you describe sound in a reflected
form of echo?

Answer:

Reflection of sound occurs just like the

reflection of light. Echo is a distinct,

reflected sound wave from a surface. A
reflected sound can be heard separately
from the original sound if the sound source
is closer to the receiver while the
reflecting hard surface is sufficiently far
from receiver. Such reflected sound is
called an echo.

● This lesson integrates values education by promoting respect, unity, cooperation, determination, and
responsibility. It does this through a warm greeting, news report discussions about students' aspirations, and
respectful interactions. These values are subtly woven into the lesson, fostering positive attitudes and a sense
of community among students.

Observable #2: Use a range of teaching strategies that enhance learner achievement in literacy and numeracy
skills.

● The teacher employs various teaching strategies, such as questioning, discussion, and the use of
multimedia, pictures to engage students in the lesson. These strategies enhance literacy skills by promoting
comprehension and critical thinking.

Observable #3: Applied a range of teaching strategies to develop critical and creative thinking, as well as
other higher-order thinking skills.

● The teacher encourages critical thinking by asking students to identify the relevance of sounds in our daily
lives to the lesson. Furthermore, the teacher incorporates higher-order thinking by having students analyze
and choose appropriate pronouns in different sentences.

Observable #4: Displayed proficient use of Mother Tongue, Filipino, and English to facilitate teaching and
learning.

The teacher effectively uses both Mother Tongue (Filipino) and English to deliver the lesson. This bilingual
approach ensures that students can comprehend the concepts in their native language while also building
proficiency in English.

Observable #5: Establish safe and secure learning environments to enhance learning through the consistent
implementation of policies, guidelines, and procedures.

●the teacher sets a positive and inclusive tone by greeting the students warmly. This contributes to creating a
safe and secure learning environment and set standards before the lesson begin.

Observable #6: Maintained learning environments that promote fairness, respect, and care to encourage
learning.

● The teacher's approach in addressing the students with respect, encouraging them to participate, through
different activities align with the objective of promoting fairness, respect, and care in the learning
environment.
