So thankful for time spent with family. Okio and I celebrated his birthday in March with some of his friends from Juntendo. Stephanie made a surprise and very quick trip to Japan for Jesses graduation in June. Mami, Masashi, Ari and Mitsuaki also made it to the graduation. Okio and I met Mariya in Guam for 3 gloriously relaxing day.(no computers) Stephanie and her friend, Jared, met Mariya in Kansas City at Thanksgiving and we were able to Skype. Okios cousins had a party when his other aunt and her family came from Shimane.

Family and Friends

Time with friends has always been important and this year there were some wonderful times even in the midst of the triple disasters that happened in March. I got to see a former student perform in Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat. Jane Rubietta came and shared with a group of us from CAJ, on March 10th. Two young people from Juntendo got married on March 12th. Lynn, a friend who moved to the States about 14 years ago, came to volunteer in Tohoku and spent 2 nights at our home. Her daughter, Lisa had been here during the summer. Traveling to watch Jesses nal basketball (Guam in Feb.)and soccer (Okinawa in May) tournaments. It seems strange to not have to go to sports events this year. I loved watching my kids, but am enjoying being an empty nester.
