Zick, Bryant, and Osterbacka (2001) investigated married mother's work patterns,
parent-child activities, and academic achievement. Findings showed that in the
employed-mother household, both parents engaged in reading/homework activities
with their child more frequently, than the parents in non-employed-mother
households.
Moore and Pepler (1998) studied the household environment and academic
performance and found that the children who live in stressful or conflict prone home
environments tend to experience academic problems.
