Lesson plan: Jolly Phonics - Y as ee

Topic: Jolly Phonics – Y as ee


Year level: Reception Year
Number of children: 24 children
Date: 24-26/07/2018 (one activity for every day)
Duration: 15-20 minutes each

ACARA Outcomes/Concept Descriptor:


- Recognise and generate rhyming words, alliteration patterns, syllables and sounds (phonemes) in spoken words (ACELA1439)

Specific Learning Outcomes:


Children will be able to:
- Practise recognition and recall of new phase 5 graphemes.
- Learn new grapheme for reading: y for /ee/.
- Practise reading and spelling words with consonant blends and words with y for /ee/.

Preparation/Organisation:
- Group introduction on the mat
- Independent work at the table or on the mat

Resources:
Wednesday:
- Paper plates (one for each)
- Colour craft paper
- Colour textas, crayons or pencils
- Googly eyes (a pair for each)
- Glue sticks

Conclusion:
- Write their name and ‘My Puppy’ at the back
of the plate and we are using them to
decorate the classroom
- Put everything back to where they were
