Review

Before we proceed to another lesson, let me try if you could still

remember and understand our topic yesterday. I prepared a Yes Teacher!
short game entitled,"Who I am?"

Listen to the directions. You have to pass the objects that I'm
going to give you. When the music stops you have to pause and Triangle
answer the question.
Square
Do you understand?
Pentagon
Are you now ready?
Rhombus

1. I'm a 3 sided polygon.

2. My 4 sides are equal.

3. I'm polygon with 5 sides.

4. All my 4 sides are congruent and no right angles.

(pupils observe the classroom)
Very good! Make a good job clap
Notebook
Books
B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson (Motivation) Bulletin board
Windows
Observe our classroom. There are things or objects that we Doors
considered as polygons?

Can you name them?

What else?

Very good.

C. Presenting examples or instances of new lesson

Elisha have Php500 and she decided to go in the Divimart to

buy clocks. She bought two pentagon clocks with different
sizes. The first clock has same size but the other clock has
Yes, Teacher.
different sizes. She paid the items for Php400. How much
will be her change? School supplies, can goods and etc.

Parents.

Yes,we do.
D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skill

Who among experience go to Divimart Taytay? Its economical.

Did you buy items?

What are these items? Elisha

Who are with you in going that place? Taytay, Rizal

Do you enjoy shopping?
Pentagon clocks

Two
What do you notice about the price of their items?
Pentagon
Let us analyze the problem.
Php400
Who went to Divimart?
How much will be the change of Elisha?
Where is Divimart located?
Amount of two clocks(Php400) and Php500 peso bill of
Elisha bought _______?
Elisha.
How many clocks that Elisha plans to buy?
Subtraction
What is the shape of the clock?
Php100.
How much are the two clocks?
Clock A (5cm,5cm,5cm,5cm,5cm)
What are we trying to answer in the problem?

What are the data that we need to answer the problem?

Clock B (5cm,6cm,7cm,8cm,9cm)

What do you think is the operation to be used? Pentagon

How much will be her change? Clock 1 has same size

Clock 2 has different sizes.

Going back on the pentagon clock, who wants to measure the size of

No, Sir.
the first clock?

How about on the second clock?

What is the shape of the clock?

What do you observe on their sizes?

Do you know the properties of polygon?

Ok, today we will be discussing about properties of polygons which

are regular and irregular polygon.

(Insert the picture of clock A and Clock B)

Polygons are classified according to the number of their sides

and angels.

Polygons may either be regular or irregular. A regular polygon

has equal sides and angles. However, irregular polygons do not
have equal sides and angles.

Let us compare and describe the polygons by completing tthe

table.

ITEM SIDES ANGLES PROPERTIES

CLOCK A

CLOCK B

What do you call a polygon which has 5 sides and 5 angles?

6? 7? 8? 9? 10? 11? and 12?
Group 1
Direction: Writes Yes, if the polygon is regular and No, if
E.GROUP ACTIVITY not.
1. Triangle
Now lets have a group activity. What are the standards in group 2. Pentagon
activity? You will finish the task after 10 minutes. 3. Hexagon
4. Heptagon
(after 10 minutes each group will present their work) 5. Octagon

Group 2
Direction: Complete the table.
POLYGON SIDES ANGLES PROPERTIES
1. Triangle
2.Quadrilateral
3.Pentagon

Group 3
Direction: Draw the following regular polygons.
1. Hexagon
2. Triangle
3. Pentagon
4. Quadrilateral
5. Heptagon

Group 4
Direction: Draw the following irregular polygons.
1. Decagon
2. Octagon
3. Hexagon
4. Triangle
5. Pentagon

Group 5
Direction: Identify the name of the polygons and count
the number of sides and angles by completing the table.
Use the picture below.

POLYGON NUMBER OF NUMBER OF

SIDES ANGLES
1. A
2.B
3.C
4.D
5.E

Polygons are closed figure.

Regular and irregular poygons.

Polygons with all sides are congruent and all angles

congruent are called regular polygons.

Irregular polygons do not have equal sides and angles.

Polygons may either be regular or irregular. A regular

polygon has equal sides and angles. However,
irregular polygons do not have equal sides and angles.

F. Generalization:

What are polygons?

Key Answer:
What are the properties of polygons? 1. Triangle, Regular Polygon

When do we say that a polygon is regular? 2. Quadrilateral, Regular Polygon

3. Pentagon, Irregula Polygon

4. Hexagon, Irregular Polygon

When do we say that a polygon is irregular?
5. Nonagon, Irregular Polygon
Differentiate regular from irregular polygons?

H. Evaluation

Direction: Identify each polygon. State whether it is regular or

irregular polygon.

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

I. Additional activities for application or remediation

Direction: Answer the following. Refer to the figures

shown below.

a. Are there polygons which appear to be irregular? Name

them.

b. Are there polygons which appear to be similar? Name

them.

c. Which pieces can you join together to form a regular

polygon?

VI. REFLECTION

A. No. Of learners who earned 75% in the evaluation.

B. No. Of learners who require additional activities for

remediation who scored below 80%

C. Did the remedial lesson work? No. Of learners who have

caught up with the lesson.
D. No. Of lectures who continue to require remediation.

E. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why did

these work?

F. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal or

supervisor can help me solve?

G. What innovation or localized materials did I use. Discover

which l wish to share with other teachers?
