6.7 Civil Works
6.7.1 General Requirements and Conditions

6.7.1.1 This scope of work is applicable to all type of Miscellaneous civil repair
works within the NGL Plant area and associated utilities areas for
equipment listed in Attachment-1P/Q, 3P/Q & 4P/Q, which may be
required as a direct consequence of the maintenance activities shall
include but not limited to the following: concrete repair, breaking of
concrete, surface preparation, formwork, applying of bonding agent to
existing OPC C30, fixing additional steel bars, pouring of OPC C30,
provision and application of curing agent, concrete protection above ground
level, by applying epoxy coating, non-slip epoxy coating, stenciling,
structural steel works, Hand rails, steel coating works, trench gratings,
Expansion bolts installation, disposal of material, and reinstatements as
may be directed by the QP REPRESENTATIVE.

6.7.1.2 The WORK shall be performed in accordance with this Scope of Work as
well as appendices and drawings.

6.7.1.3 Civil works may be required to be carried out in “Live” Plant, so


CONTRACTOR shall provide all necessary safety precautions as per QP
Safety Standards and temporary works to carry out civil works.

6.7.1.4 CONTRACTOR shall be deemed to have satisfied himself with all


WORKSITE conditions and factors like strata, location of WORKSITE and
all items liable to affect or to be encountered during the CONTRACT
duration.

6.7.1.5 CONTRACTOR Scope of work shall include engineering, procurement,


transportation, fabrication, and installation as detailed in the Contract
Scope of work, specification and drawings that may be deemed necessary
for successful completion of the WORK.

6.7.1.6 CONTRACTOR shall take into consideration all the necessary precautions
and safety measures as required by QP.

6.7.1.7 CONTRACTOR shall carry out a WORKSITE survey of all the adjacent
facilities, equipment’s, structures, etc., which may have an impact on the
WORK.

6.7.1.8 CONTRACTORS shall ensure that the WORK is carried out with extreme
care and that to protect all existing plant and equipment, etc.,
CONTRACTOR shall ensure that access to the area is maintained at all
times for QP operations, maintenance, fire and Safety personnel and their
equipment.

6.7.1.9 CONTRACTOR shall demonstrate by preparation and submission of


detailed method statements that the work will be carried out in a safe

manner and that the area will remain live and operational throughout the
CONTRACT duration.

6.7.1.10 CONTRACTOR shall provide data sheets, certificates of authenticity and


delivery notes for all materials and equipment as required by QP
REPRESENTATIVE. In original or certified true copy format.

6.7.1.11 As required by QP, CONTACTOR shall prepare all documents, method


statements, materials and submit to QP for approval, prior to
commencement of the WORK a copy for their QA/QC Plan. QA/QC Plan
must identify CONTRACTOR REPRESENTATIVE’S responsibilities,
sampling and testing materials. Pro-forma checklists, work procedures,
pro-forma requests for inspection approval, request for material approval
and non –conformance report forms.

6.7.1.12 CONTRACTOR shall immediately remove any material condemned by the


QP REPRESENTATIVE as unfit for use in the WORK.

6.7.1.13 CONTRACTOR shall reinstate the WORKSITE and all utility routes to their
original conditions.

6.7.1.14 CONTRACTOR shall prepare and submit for QP approval, within Fifteen
(15) working days of SCHEDULED COMPLETION DATE, ‘As Built
Drawings”. The As Built Drawings shall include all updated modifications, to
be approved by QP REPRESENTATIVE.

6.7.1.15 The above Drawings shall be developed confirming to QP Engineering


Standards for Draught ES.D.10. As Built Drawings shall prepare and
submit to QP for approval, within Fifteen (15) Calendar days of the
SCHEDULED COMPLETION DATE CONTRACT Dossier, which shall
contain all existing construction and as-built drawings, test results and
certificates for the material and equipment’s, hard and electronic copies.

6.7.1.16 QP shall provide temporary electrical supply available within the NGL Plant
from the following maximum electrical rating points: 100A, 3 Phase,
415V/240V, 50 Hz, for utilization on the Turnaround maintenance works
CONTRACTOR shall arrange equipment’s to suit the existing power supply
arrangements in QP, however in case if CONTRACTOR is planning to
utilize equipment’s, generators for source of power supply for their
maintenance work other than the power supply provided by QP then it is
under the sole discretion of CONTRACTOR without any additional cost
implication to QP CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for the provision and
installation of electrical cables, wiring to his facilities. Testing of cable laid
and other electrical equipment’s shall be carried out and test reports
submitted to QP Plant Electrical Engineer for approval. CONTRACTOR
shall request to QP in writing 72 hours in advance for any additional
requirement of electrical services.

6.7.1.17 QP will provide potable water free of cost only for the cleaning and hydro
testing of Equipment maintenance works. However, CONTRACTOR shall
be responsible for drawing the water supply from the source point to a tank

of sufficient capacity with necessary level float arrangement within NGL
Plant complex and associated utilities areas and transport it by means of
high-pressure pumps, header pipes hoses, connectors, valves etc. to the
SITE.

6.7.1.18 CONTRACTOR shall collect and dispose of all debris and arising from the
WORK to an approved tip outside of the Mesaieed Industrial Area. Debris
may be transported from the plant areas to a temporary collection area
earmarked by the QP Operations Department, for disposal off WORKSITE
at a later date. Any additional expense resulting from double handling of
the debris will be at the expense of CONTRACTOR. Debris must be
removed on daily basis.

6.7.1.19 It may occur that the WORK may be stopped due to operational reasons or
other ongoing activities. The WORK is to be performed in an industrial
surrounding in which hydrocarbons and by products are processed under
extreme conditions. QP Safety Procedures include test drills and alarms
that monitor processing activity.

6.7.1.20 In the interests of Safety, work stoppages may be required at times. During
Ship loading, hot work permits will not be issued for Work in adjacent
areas. CONTRACTOR is to take account of this in his tender. No such
claims will be entertained on account of such stoppages

6.7.1.21 QP Permit to Work procedures to be strictly followed. All permits shall be


submitted at least 24 hours in advance.

6.7.1.22 All installation materials shall be provided by CONTRACTOR.

6.7.1.23 All necessary tools including programming devices shall be provided by


CONTRACTOR.

6.7.1.24 CONTRACTOR’S scope of construction of WORK shall include, but not


limited to

6.7.1.24.1 Establishing WORKSITE safety rules in accordance with QP


Safety requirements &
6.7.1.24.2 Providing a quality assurance plan and developing quality
control procedures in compliance with ISO 9001.

6.7.1.25 CONTRACTOR’S scope of construction of WORK shall include, but not


limited to the following Environmental conditions:

6.7.1.25.1 Exposed onshore area in Qatar with a saline and sandy /


dusty atmosphere
6.7.1.25.2 Average maximum shade temperature 45C
6.7.1.25.3 Max. Recorded shade temperature 52C
6.7.1.25.4 Average minimum shade temperature 20C
6.7.1.25.5 Minimum recorded shade temperature 0C

6.7.1.25.10 The highest humidity occurs during December / January. At
the time of maximum temperature the relative humidity is
46%. Humidity’s of 100% at 27C have been recorded.
6.7.1.25.11 Maximum annual rainfall 175mm

6.7.1.25.13 Maximum wind speeds of 110 km/hr
6.7.1.25.14 Prevailing wind direction NW to NNW

6.7.2 Civil Activities Scope of Work

6.7.2.1 This scope of work is applicable to all type of Miscellaneous civil repair
works within the NGL Plant area and associated utilities areas for
equipment listed in Attachment-1P/Q, 3P/Q & 4P/Q, which may be
required as a direct consequence of the maintenance activities shall
include but not limited to the following: concrete repair, breaking of
concrete, surface preparation, formwork, applying of bonding agent to
existing OPC C30, fixing additional steel bars, pouring of polymer modified
concrete repair mortar, OPC C40, SRC blinding C20,provision and
application of curing agent, concrete protection above ground level by
applying epoxy coating, concrete protection below ground level as per QP
standards ,non-slip epoxy coating, stenciling, structural steel works, Hand
rails, steel coating works, trench gratings, Expansion bolts installation,
disposal of material, and reinstatements as may be directed by the QP
REPRESENTATIVE.

6.7.2.2 CONTRACTOR shall carry out the following civil WORKS in accordance
with QP Specifications and Qatar Construction Specification (QCS) 2014
as required & as directed by QP REPRESENTATIVE such as but not
limited to:

6.7.2.2.1 Break and dismantle reinforced concrete.

6.7.2.2.2 Disposal of all debris to a Municipality approved tip-off site.

6.7.2.2.3 Prepare blasting of existing reinforcement bars including


concrete surfaces by abrasive blasting as directed by QP
specification. Blasting of exposed reinforcement.

6.7.2.2.4 Supply and apply Epoxy zinc rich primer to reinforcement bars
and Epoxy bonding agent for existing concrete surfaces to
receive new concrete. Supply and fix high yield deformed bar
reinforcement for reinforced concrete construction.

6.7.2.2.5 Provide high yield deformed steel Reinforcement bars, all sizes
to cut and bent as per required.

6.7.2.2.6 Supply, fix and remove formwork with necessary supports for
reinforced concrete construction to QP Specifications.

6.7.2.2.7 Supply and place reinforced concrete grade 40 OPC including


polypropylene fiber where required and 5% micro silica.
Contractor shall provide ready mix concrete.

6.7.2.2.8 Supply and lay polymer modified concrete repair mortar for
repair of existing reinforced concrete structures.

6.7.2.2.9 Supply, place and finish all concrete works with curing agent.

6.7.2.2.10 Supply, prepare surface and paint concrete surface with one
coat AMERON SERIES 100 EPOXY surface as per QP
specifications.

6.7.2.2.11 Supply and apply non-slippery epoxy coating to all exposed


horizontal/ slopped concrete surfaces.

6.7.2.2.12 Stenciling of TAG numbers.

6.7.2.2.13 Supply and install Expansion bolts, nuts & washers (ASTM
A307 Grades A & B).

6.7.2.2.14 Supply, fabricate and install, Structural steel frames, angles,


50mm *50mm *6mm with Flat bar 100mm*6mm, for installation
of stainless steel mesh. To be fixed as per existing at all heights
including scaffolding.

6.7.2.2.15 Supply, fabricate and install Stainless steel mesh 316-L


5mm*50mm*50mm into fabricated frames as per existing at all
heights including scaffolding and painting.

6.7.2.2.16 Supply, Fabricate and replace /install Galvanized and painted


hand rails members as per existing and QP standards at all
heights including scaffolding.

6.7.2.2.17 Prepare, supply and apply paint to steel frames and trench
gratings expansion bolts and ladder as per QP-SPC-L-002
Rev.2 relevant schedule.

6.7.2.2.18 Supply, and apply Painting of existing galvanized hand rails


including base plates, expansion bolts etc. including preparation
of existing surfaces as per QP specifications QP-SPC-L-002
Rev. 2 relevant schedule, at all heights including scaffolding.

6.7.2.2.19 Supply and carryout survey works as required.

6.7.2.2.20 Perform all the WORK in accordance with relevant QP
Specifications, Qatar Construction Specification (QCS) 2014
and all standards and codes of practice implied therein.

6.7.2.2.21 Ensure that the WORK is carried out with extreme care and that
protective screens, dust suppression and the like are used as
required to protect all existing plant and equipment. Etc.

6.7.2.2.22 Comply fully with QP “Permit to Work” System.

6.7.2.2.23 Provide data sheets, test reports, certificates of authenticity and


delivery notes for all materials and equipment as required by QP
REPRESENTATIVE. In original or certified true copy format.

6.7.2.2.24 Carry out sampling and testing of materials in accordance with


the Qatar National Building Specification (QNBS), Section 1.
Where required by QP, CONTRACTOR shall employ the
services of an approved independent testing laboratory for
testing of materials and submission of test reports.

6.7.2.2.25 Break back concrete surfaces up to a depth of 150 mm on R.C.


beams / columns / slabs / platforms.

6.7.2.2.26 Supply & fix expanded metal lathing 200 mm wide fixed to block
work and concrete by shot firing.

6.7.2.2.27 Preparing the existing painted wall and concrete surfaces by


scraping off the old paint and repairing cracks etc. to receive
new.

6.7.2.2.28 Supply and paint one (1) coat of Hempadur primer 0597 or
equivalent.

6.7.2.2.29 Supply and paint two (2) coats of Hempadur HI Build 4523
(thickness 125 microns/coat) or equivalent.

6.7.2.2.30 Supply and apply non-slip epoxy coating on the floor slabs.

6.7.2.2.31 Supply and fix steel fabric reinforcement to BS 4483 (A393)

6.7.2.2.32 Reinstate the WORKSITE to original condition.

6.7.3 Site Organization

6.7.3.1 CONTRACTOR shall provide, for the duration of the CONTRACT, a


qualified team of Artisans, Tradesmen, Laborers, Foremen, Engineering
Supervisors, together with the necessary transport, plant, equipment, hand
tools and basic material requirements for the effective attendance of
defects as instructed by QP REPRESENTATIVE.

6.7.3.2 CONTRACTOR shall provide experienced Site Engineers having
experience and knowledge of all building and construction disciplines and a
degree / diploma in Civil Engineering. CONTRACTOR shall submit the CV
of key personnel to QP for review and approval. The Site Engineer duties
and responsibilities shall include directing and executing the Site works, co-
coordinating and deploying resources, arranging permits to work,
supervising the WORK, surveying, measurement and engineering support
and liaison with QP personnel.

6.7.3.3 The Site Engineers shall be assisted by sufficient numbers of Supervisory


Foremen to adequately control the WORK. Any delays due to insufficient
numbers of supervisory foremen will be the responsibility of
CONTRACTOR.

6.7.3.4 CONTRACTOR shall, under the QP Permit to Work System, be required to


provide as part of their workforce CONTRACTOR Site Supervisors who will
undergo e-learning training by QP and be issued with a PTW Level 1 card
so that they can be issued with work permits and carry out daily
endorsement of work permits. A Site Supervisors is required at each permit
location. CONTRACTOR Site Supervisors must be fluent in written and
spoken English and capable of completing P.C. based e-learning training.

6.7.3.5 CONTRACTOR shall maintain at WORKSITE a dedicated workforce in


sufficient numbers to expedite the WORK as quickly as possible.
CONTRACTOR shall be required to increase or decrease their work force
as necessary and as directed by the QP REPRESENTATIVE.

6.7.3.6 CONTRACTOR shall ensure that all equipment and materials required for
the execution of the WORK are available at all times. In exceptional cases
where materials of existing type are not available for replacement,
alternative materials of equal quality shall be supplied following approval of
the QP REPRESENTATIVE in writing.

6.7.3.7 CONTRACTOR shall be held responsible for fully protecting and


maintaining all adjacent existing services / structures whilst carrying out the
WORK, and shall take all steps to prevent damage, interference or
interruption of the same. Damages shall be repaired and made good to the
satisfaction of the QP REPRESENTATIVE at the expense of
CONTRACTOR.

6.7.4 QA/QC Requirements

6.7.4.1 CONTRACTOR shall provide Quality Control / Quality Assurance Engineer


to establish, control and maintain quality systems, procedures and
documentation for the Services.

6.7.4.2 The Quality Control Engineer must be approved by the QP


REPRESENTATIVE and shall possess as a minimum a recognized Civil
Engineering Qualification and have experience of similar work. In addition

to the main Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QA/QC) Engineer,
CONTRACTOR shall provide sufficient numbers of full time, dedicated
QA/QC personnel for supervision of the many and remote work locations.

6.7.4.3 CONTRACTOR QA/QC Personnel details shall be submitted to QP for


review and approval. CONTRACTOR QA/QC Personnel shall be
responsible to CONTRACTOR QA/QC Engineer and shall not be permitted
to perform any other duties.

6.7.4.4 CONTRACTOR Site QA/QC activities shall be in accordance with ISO


9001 and guidelines provided in QP Document QSP-QC-009 Rev (1).

6.7.4.5 Prior to any shop or field welding, blasting and painting, insulation, testing
and inspection, QP inspection shall be informed well in advance in order to
allow necessary inspection and applicable procedure acceptance.

6.7.4.6 CONTRACTOR shall, as a minimum, notify to QP the progress of activities


which are subject to inspection and approval by QP such as any welding,
blasting, painting, inspection or testing activity. This is to ensure sufficient
warning for scheduling of inspections. Such notifications should be
included as part of the standard reporting procedure.

6.7.4.7 Prior to any welding, the following documents shall be presented to QP for
acceptance.
6.7.4.7.1 Inspection Test Plan
6.7.4.7.2 Quality Manual
6.7.4.7.3 As run PQR documents
6.7.4.7.4 Welding procedures
6.7.4.7.5 Welder Qualification Records/Reports/Certificates
6.7.4.7.6 NDT Procedures - Ultrasonic, MPI, & DPI
6.7.4.7.7 Electrode handling procedure
6.7.4.7.8 Hydrostatic Test procedure
6.7.4.7.9 Welding inspector CV (if accepted by QP welding inspector shall
be present all the time during welding, testing, inspection of weld
joints)

6.7.5 Environmental Requirements

6.7.5.1 CONTRACTOR shall be familiar with the State of Qatar Environmental Law
and shall comply with State of Qatar Environmental Standards (relevant
standards are mentioned below), as well as QP Specifications and
guidelines regarding waste management and environmental incident
reporting.

6.7.5.2 CONTRACTOR shall implement proper environmental measures during


the WORK, particularly during sand removal (dust control) and during
dewatering (water quality and disposal).

6.7.5.3 CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for the collection, removal, transport


sand disposal of all hazardous and non-hazardous wastes generated
where required. Latest revisions are:

6.7.6 Applicable Codes and Standards

6.7.6.1 All WORKS shall be performed in accordance with QP and Qatar National
Building Specifications, (QNBS) Section 1, latest revisions.

6.7.6.2 CONTRACTOR shall implement all Standard Code of Practices and


Procedures as a reference as given below, :

 BS 8110 - Part 1- Structural use of Concrete - Code of Practice for
Design and Construction.

concrete.
 BS 882 - Specification for aggregates from natural sources for concrete
 QES-S-051 - General Design Specification for On-Shore Civil
&Structural Engineering and Construction.

6.7.7 Temporary Supports

6.7.7.1 CONTRACTOR shall design, fabricate and install adequate temporary


supports to existing pipelines, vessels, equipment and machinery as
necessary to carry out the WORK.

6.7.8 Demolition

6.7.8.1 All WORKS shall be carried out in accordance with QP, QCS 2014 and
Qatar National Building Specifications (QNBS) Section2.

6.7.8.2 Demolition and dismantling shall be carried out in a safe manner at all
times. The use of explosives for demolition purposes shall be strictly
prohibited. The use of flame and gas cutting equipment shall be prohibited
unless specifically approved by QP.

6.7.9 Protection Above Ground

6.7.9.1 All the vertical and horizontal concrete surfaces shall receive one (1) coat
of Hempadur primer / sealer 05970 and two (2) coats of Hempadur Hi-build
45230 or similar approved

6.7.10 Concrete Works

6.7.10.1 All WORKS shall be carried out in accordance with QCS 2014 and Qatar
National Building Specifications (QNBS) relevant sections.

6.7.11 Blinding

6.7.11.1 Blinding concrete shall be to grade SRC 20 of minimum depth of 50 mm,


unless stated otherwise. Blinding shall be placed on compacted fill
material.

6.7.12 Reinforced Concrete

6.7.12.1 Concrete shall be to grade OPC 40 with micro silica cement replacement
as directed by QP REPRESENTATIVE. Nominal size of Gabbro
aggregates shall be 20mm.

6.7.13 Reinforcement

6.7.13.1 Reinforcement shall be epoxy zinc rich primer coated high yield deformed
bar graded QD 43 with a specified strength of 410 N/mm2 to BS 4449 or
equal, as supplied by the Qatar Steel Company (QASCO), but steel
characteristic stress for design purpose will be limited to 410 N/mm2 as a
minimum.

6.7.13.2 Non-coated mild steel bar may be used for links and binders but it shall be
plain bar with characteristic strength of 240 N/mm2.

6.7.14 Formwork

6.7.14.1 Sizing: Formwork shall be provided to form the structure and to achieve
the required surface finish of the concrete. Formwork shall be designed
and constructed so that the concrete can be properly placed and
thoroughly compacted. The formwork shall support the fluid concrete and
conform accurately to the required shape, position and levels and shall be
constructed in such a way that stripping out can be carried out without
causing damage to the finished concrete.

6.7.14.2 Strength and Stability: Formwork and false work shall be designed to
have sufficient strength and rigidity to maintain it position and shape under
loads incidental to placing concrete, taking into account the expected
method and rate of placement.

6.7.14.3 Ties: Cast-in form ties shall not be used below ground level and may only
be used above ground with QP REPRESENTATIVE’S approval.

6.7.14.4 Coating: Formwork shall be coated with approved release agent before
the reinforcement is placed. Surplus coatings on the form shall be removed
prior to concrete placement. Care shall be taken that the release agent
does not get on concrete or reinforcement, which is to bond with new
concrete. The coated surfaces of formwork shall be protected against direct
exposure to the sun while not in use.

6.7.14.5 Cleaning: Formwork shall be so designed that it is capable of being


cleaned out immediately prior to concrete placement with temporary
access holes provided as necessary. Formwork shall be cleaned
immediately after stripping and release agent shall be re-applied prior to
reuse.

6.7.14.6 Removal: Sides of formwork shall not be removed for 3 days after placing
unless otherwise approved by QP REPRESENTATIVE. Formwork and
supports for bottom of slabs, beams and watertight basins shall not be
removed for 10 days after placing unless otherwise confirmed by tests at
seven days age and approved by QP REPRESENTATIVE.
6.7.14.7 Others: Formwork shall be provided to the top faces of sloping works
where the slope exceeds 150 from the horizontal.

6.7.14.8 Chamfers: All exposed finished edges of concrete shall be chamfered 25


mm unless special architectural finishes are specified.

6.7.15 Concrete Repairs

6.7.15.1 CONTRACTOR shall break out all cracked or damaged concrete without
inducing further cracking in the concrete. Debris to be removed frequently
to permit close inspection of exposed concrete surface to determine extent
of damaged concrete and agreement with the QP REPRESENTATIVE on
reaching sound concrete surface. Surface formed should not taper or
feather out to the existing sound concrete but should be cut square to it.
After final hand brushing and blow out by compressed air line to remove all
dust and debris, CONTRACTOR shall immediately proceed with the repair
works.

6.7.15.2 CONTRACTOR shall expose the reinforcement bars by cutting out to a


minimum depth of 50 mm behind the main bar and a minimum of 50 mm on
each side of it. After removal of all debris, the QP REPRESENTATIVE shall
examine the steel, and if deemed necessary, all badly damaged
reinforcement shall be replaced as instructed. All debris and dust shall be
removed by hand and finally, the reinforcement shall be cleaned by
abrasive blasting or other approved mechanical means at the discretion of
QP REPRESENTATIVE.

6.7.15.3 The replacement of any reinforcement shall be at the sole discretion of QP


REPRESENTATIVE, as a general rule, existing reinforcements with a
cross-sectional area less than 80% of the original cross section shall be

replaced with new. After grit blasting all exposed reinforcement, the entire
bar shall be coated with “Epoxy Zinc Rich” primer or equal and approved.
Application shall be in accordance with the manufacturer’s written
instruction and procedures.

6.7.15.4 CONTRACTOR shall apply the manufacturer’s Bonding / barrier Agent as


approved by QP REPRESENTATIVE.

6.7.15.5 CONTRACTOR shall carefully carry out the repairs by one of the following
methods:

6.7.15.5.1 Shrinkage Compensated, Free Flowing, Precision Concrete


(Micro Concrete.) A single component, low alkali cement
based blend of powders and aggregates to which only the
WORKSITE addition of clean water shall be permitted. The
micro concrete shall exhibit a 3-day compressive strength
not less than 30 N/mm2 and a 28-day compressive strength
of 60 N/mm2. The sodium oxide content shall not exceed 3.0
kg/m3.

6.7.15.5.2 Polymer modified shrinkage compensated structural grade


repair mortar consisting of a blend of powders to which only
the addition of clean water shall be permitted. The cured
mortar shall achieve 55 N/mm2 compressive strength and
10 N/mm2 flexural strength at 28 days, suitable for working
temperatures above 350 C.

6.7.16 Structural steel work

6.7.16.1 All WORKS shall be carried out in accordance with QCS 2014 and Qatar
National Building specifications (QNBS) Section 9.

6.7.16.2 All steel to be grade 43A or equivalent.

6.7.16.3 Hi-strength bolts shall conform to ASTM A-325, back finish + BS 466

6.7.16.4 Machine bolts shall conform to BS 466 and ASTM A-307, electro
galvanized finish.

6.7.16.5 All paintwork shall be in accordance with QP Standard Specifications QP-


SPC-L-002, Rev. 2, and relevant section.

6.7.16.6 Abrasive grit blasting material shall be approved by HSE and to conform to
ISO-8501-1: 1988 Sa 3 surface amplitude 50-75 microns, to QP
specifications QP-SPC-L-002. Rev.2.

6.7.16.7 Primer Coating Material shall be two components Zinc Rich Epoxy

6.7.16.8 All WORKS and materials shall be in accordance with QP standard


specifications for civil / structural works Volume1 July 91.

6.7.16.9 Al structural steel shall be of grade 43A conforming to BS 4360 (as a
minimum).

6.7.16.10 All bolts shall be grade 8.8 conforming to BS 4190 unless noted
otherwise.

6.7.16.11 All fillet welds shall be 6mm U.N.O. and shall be MPI tested.

6.7.16.12 All structural steel works shall be painted as per QP - SPC-L-002. Rev. 2

6.7.17 Painting

6.7.17.1 All WORKS shall be carried out in accordance with Qatar National Building
Specifications (QNBS) Section 16 and to SPC – QP - L - 002.Rev.2

6.7.18 Concrete Protection

6.7.18.1 Protection above Ground: All the vertical, horizontal and sloping faces of
concrete above ground shall be provided with a low viscosity primer and
coated with two (2) coats of light grey epoxy paint to 125 microns per coat
to QP approval. Hempadur Primer 0597, Hempadur HI Build 4523, Or
equal and approved.

6.7.18.2 Below Ground Protection: Shall receive a layer of 3mm thick bitumen
based waterproofing membrane. One layer of 4mm thick hardboard.

6.7.18.3 Steel work Protection: In general, all painting / protection works to


steelwork shall be carried out in accordance with QP-SPC-L-002.Rev.2

6.7.19 Miscellaneous Works

6.7.19.1 Pre-cast cover Slabs: Slabs shall be laid to the required cross falls on
50mm dry sand / cement bed, with 10 mm joints, which shall be grouted
and neatly pointed and finished.

6.7.19.2 Sign/Tag Numbers: The dimensions of Sign or Tag numbers are as per
QP requirements.

6.7.19.3 Land Transportation: In contracting for land transportation within the


State of Qatar of soil, sand fill, quarry powder, aggregate or gravel,
CONTRACTOR and SUBCONTRACTORS shall employ the National
Transport Office, provided that (a) delivery schedules and quantities of
material to be transported meet the requirements of the execution program
and the unit rates charged do not exceed those listed below:

6.7.20 Use of National Cement and Steel Products

6.7.20.1 CONTRACTOR shall use the materials manufactured by the Qatar


National Cement Company (QNCC), provided that QNCC materials shall
meet the requirements of this Appendix – A and SCHEDULED
COMPLETION DATE.

6.7.20.2 CONTRACTOR shall use and purchase from within the State of Qatar the
materials manufactured by Qatar Steel Company (QASCO), provided that
QASCO materials shall meet the requirements of this Appendix – A and
SCHEDULED COMPLETION DATE. Additionally, CONTRACTOR shall
cut, bend or shape all QASCO steel reinforcement used in the WORK
within the State of Qatar.

6.7.21 Construction Method Statement

6.7.21.1 Construction Method Statement and procedures shall be prepared and


issued for all key construction activities related to mechanical and piping as
advised by QP REPRESENTATIVE and submitted to QP for approval prior
to commencement of construction activities.

6.7.21.2 Should any conflicts arise between AFC drawings, specifications and
standards, the most straighten requirements shall be considered and
applied as advised by QP REPRESENTATIVE.

6.7.22 Abbreviations

6.7.22.1 The following terms, abbreviations and acronyms are used throughout the
Scope of Work.

 NGL Natural Gas Liquid.


 ISO International Standard of Organization.
 BS British Standard.
 BP British Petroleum.

6.7.22.2 In case of discrepancies among the above listed Standard and


Specification the following priority shall govern.
