REFLECTION PAPER IN WRITING MY PERSONAL LIFELONG LEARNING PLAN

At the very beginning, I really had a difficulty in writing my Personal

Lifelong Learning Plan. I honestly don’t know where and how to begin in
writing it. As I read my module on “Equipping Teachers with Knowledge, Skills,
Attitudes, and Values for the 21 st Century, the inspirational quote of Mr. Alan
Lakein came across my mind. He once said that, “Planning is bringing the
future into the present.” It motivated me to craft my PLLP because I want to
bring my vision to the present.

This Personal Lifelong Learning Plan (PLLP) presents my newest self-

advancement program/plan that will lead me to better serve the community as
a teacher and adapt to the changes in the 21st century. It is also my guiding
factor to fully realize my goal and ambition and effectively contribute to the
society as a teacher, as an educational leader and as a citizen.

Designing a Personal Lifelong Leaning Plan is not an easy task because

this is the plan of my progress from one learning level to the next throughout
my lifetime. The KSAV that I am learning from this Course contributed
significantly in reconfiguring my vision about my personal and professional
growth and development. As a 21st century teacher, I must be familiar with the
new literacies, or new areas of learning, that I have to emphasize and prioritize
when handling teaching and learning activities. But first, I need to develop
these literacies myself before I can impart them to my students.

I learned that the 21st century literacies are somewhat similar to the
different multiple intelligences; (1) the Arts and Creativity the teachers and
students need to be more adept in arts and manifest creativity in various
activities, (2)Ecoliteracy entails acquiring knowledge about climate change,
pollution, loss of natural habitats and biodiversity as well as the impacts of
environmental problems on human lives, (3) Cyberliteracy/Digital Literacy is
based on the reality that societies and workplaces have now become more
information-driven, (4)Financial Literacy, the teachers and students are
expected to be knowledgeable about the basics of economics and financial
management (5) Media Literacy, the teachers and students are expected to be
knowledgeable and skilled in the area of communications particularly the
media (6) Social/Emotional Literacies, the teacher and student need to acquire
social skills that are attuned to the norms of the current society and (7)
Globalization and Multicultural Literacy, the teacher and student need to
develop a culture of respect for cultural diversity.

In determining my level of competency in every literacy, I really have to

evaluate myself and ponder whether I am already good or weak in that certain
literacy. I need to come up with the activities to conduct in order to
improve/enhance that particular competency. Many things were also
considered in identifying the time framework. Due considerations were done
because I need to attend to my other responsibilities as a teacher. I also
consider the support and resources needed. I reflect almost all possible
answers. I also identify the barriers and challenges that I can encounter in
implementing my plan. Challenges in the plan implementation phase are
constant ingredients. But having the plan implemented efficiently and
effectively is surely exciting. Here I consider challenges as personal and from
others. A way of beating these challenges can be overcame with clear direction
coupled with determination and motivation in implementing the PLLP. As
Morris Chang once said, “Without strategy, execution is aimless. Without
execution strategy is useless.

In writing my PLLP, there are so many questions in my mind. But one

thing is for sure, I made this PLLP because I wanted to become more efficient
and effective teaching-learning facilitator and mentor to my students in the
21st century classroom.
