SO/ TOO và 

EITHER/ NEITHER
1. Too và So có nghĩa là “cũng vậy”: Khi nhắc lại một điều giống người đã nói trước, ta có thể dùng Too, So.

-“Too” đặt ở cuối câu, sau một dấu phẩy.

E.g: A. I can sing English songs.

B. I can sing English songs, too. (thực tế là I can, too)

Trong thực tế người ta thường dùng động từ đặc biệt (động từ khiếm khuyết, trợ động từ) để nói ngắn gọn thay vì phải
lặp lại cả câu.

-“So” đặt ở đầu câu, sau “So” phải mượn trợ động từ phù hợp đi liền sau nó và đứng liền trước chủ ngữ.

So + V (đặc biệt)+ Subject. ( ĐẢO NGỮ)

E.g: A. I can sing English songs

B. So can I. — VD 1:

+ A: I LOVE ENGLISH. (tôi yêu thích tiếng Anh)

+ B: SO DO I.(tôi cũng vậy) (do câu A nói dùng hiện tại đơn phải động từ thường, do đó trợ động từ là DO cho chủ
ngữ là I)

–VD 2:

+ A: I AM A STUDENT. (tôi là sinh viên)

+ B: SO IS MY YOUNGER BROTHER (em trai tôi cũng vậy). (do câu người nói trước dùng AM, nên phải mượng IS
đứng sao SO cho hợp với MY YOUNGER BROTHER, là danh từ số ít)

— VD 3:

+ A: I WENT TO LE HONG PHONG HIGH SCHOOL. (tôi đã học trường Lê Hồng Phong)

+ B: SO DID I. (tôi cũng vậy) (vì câu người nói trước dùng thì quá khứ đơn, nên trợ động từ tương ứng đặt sau SO
phải là DID)

–VD 4:

+ A: I HAVE BEEN TO THAILAND. (tôi đã được đi Thái Lan)

+ B: SO HAVE I. (tôi cũng vậy) (Do câu người nói trước dùng thì hiện tại hoàn thành nên trợ động từ cần mượn để
đặt sau SO phải là HAVE

2. Either và Neither nghĩa là “cũng không”: Khi người thứ nhất nói một điều phủ định và người thứ hai nói giống
như vậy, có thể dùng hai từ này.

-“Either” đặt ở cuối câu, sau một dấu phẩy.

E.g: A. I’ m not good.

B. I’ m not good, either. (thực tế: I’ m not, either.)

-Neither đặt ở đầu câu, sau Neither là động từ đặc biệt (động từ khiếm khuyết, trợ động từ) rồi đến chủ từ. (chỗ này
giống So)

Neither + V (đặc biệt)+ Subject. ( ĐẢO NGỮ)

Chú ý nhé: Sau Neither không có not, chúng ta có thể nhớ Neither = not + either, như vậy đã có neither thì không cần
not nữa.

E.g: A. I don’t play football.

B. Neither do I.
