Learning should be fun

Background:
Tanishka hails from a family of 5 members. Her father does a job in an industry and her
mother is a house wife. She has one sister and one brother. During her free time, Tanishka
likes to read books or write stories.
Textbook knowledge is not enough:
Tanishka helps students when they miss out on any class session and she says she enjoys
teaching to her peer group. She once explained the sound topic to her friend who was absent
to the session and she felt very confident. She is very happy and proud that even her friends
were complementing her for her confidence and how she explained the topic with both theory
and activity. She says she likes making models and she also made one model of solar systems
with all the best out of waste products like small balls, thermocol and colour papers.
Tanishka is a very curious student and she says when she gets any doubt she likes to clear
that doubt very instantly, before she forgets. She first likes to approach her regular school
teacher or Agastya instructor. But, however, if she does not get her doubt clarified, she likes
to approach online platforms like Google and Youtube to understand better. She says when
the subjects are taught in the regular classroom, if they are very complex, it becomes very
difficult to understand the topic. But, if the same topic is explained in Agastya session with
experiments and activities, she gets more clarity.
According to Tanishka, subject should be taught in a classroom in two ways. One way is to
have a practical knowledge of the topic. That makes student’s understanding easier and gives
the student easy access to grasp the topic. The second way is group learning. She says when
she learns in a group, the team knowledge becomes a bridge and gives her different
perspectives of the same topic. One of the topics that she says she understood better after
attending Agastya is the sound topic.
Tanishka is a very enthusiastic child and she even participated in science fair and presented
the solar system model. She says she even won the first prize for it. She feels very happy and
proud about that moment. She even participated in the summer camp and that made her learn
about best out of waste and participate in debate competition. She says she had a lot of fun in
the summer camp. Tanishka says when learning is combined with fun and enthusiasm,
student will automatically learn so much. She learnt so much in Agastya sessions and even
got better grades after Agastya.
Aspiration:
Tanishka wants to become a teacher when she grows up and help the students to learn new
topics. When the students are intelligent, that will help the society to go towards a better
world. She says she will also work towards giving free education to poor students. Agastya is
helping her achieve her dreams by giving her confidence about herself and also giving the
clarity about the basics of the subject.
