Background:
Mohit hails from a family of 3 members. His father has a private job in a company and his
mother is a house wife. Mohit does not have any siblings. During his free time, Mohit likes to
read books, play with his friends. His favourite hobby is to do fun science experiments at
home.
Learning by experimenting:
Mohit is a very curious student and likes to understand new things. During this process if he
finds anything difficult to understand, he likes to consult his regular teacher or Agastya
instructor. But if their explanation also does not give clarity to him, he likes to approach
Google or any social website to get clarity. According to Mohit, the subjects should be taught
in a mix approach of both reading and doing experiments. Student might lose interest with
monotonous way to learning so trying different ways of learning can really make the student
to focus and have interest.
Agastya instructors have a very good lesson plan, according to Mohit. He says topics like
physical and chemical changes; maths activities and disaster management etc. are made very
clear to him after attending the Agastya classes for the same. Simple analogies like the
changes in water conditions with difference in temperature are encountered in his daily life
and now with the understanding of concept behind those changes, he can have better clarity
as to why the changes.
Mohit says, when a person has reasoning and understanding for a concept, he would not
believe in superstition. In his society so many people believe in superstitions that can be
countered by scientific reasoning behind it. He says when the perspective changes and people
start thinking in scientific angle, society will be very bright and grow rapidly. His interest
towards Maths and science subject changed after understanding about the concepts and
applying them in daily life.
Mohit not only learns new topics, but also shares them with his neighbors and friends to
educate them. He says he taught cycloidal path, physical changes and chemical changes to his
friends and he feels very happy and proud to have done that. He also performed the cycloidal
path experiment in the science fair he attended and made a low cost model out of it. He says
he learnt how to make low cost models from the summer camps he attended by Agastya.
There he learnt so many fun activities like best out of waste techniques, making greeting
cards and making of sparrow’s nest also.
Aspiration:
Mohit wants to become an engineer when he grows up. He says he likes doing creative things
and making this from scratch and that is why he wants to shine as an engineer. By achieving
his goal, he wants to help poor people in studying and make them a better versions of
themselves. To achieve his goal, Agastya is helping him both in understanding the concepts
thoroughly and giving him the stage to experiment new things.
