Background:
Megha comes from a family of 4 members. Her father is a farmer and her mother is a house
wife. She has an elder brother and he now studies in 12 th standard. During her free time,
Megha likes to read books and play with her friends.
Teaching by both engaging and entertaining:
Megha is a very curious student and she likes to know new things. When she finds difficulty
in understanding the concepts, she does not hesitate to go to her regular class teacher or
Agastya instructor to clarify the doubts. She says with this way of approach, she does not find
any difficulty or problem in learning. She says even if there would a problem related to
studies in the future, she would rely on Agastya instructor to help her resolve it.
Megha says that teaching should be both engaging as well as entertaining. If the subject is
taught in a very simple understandable way, student will be able to understand it very well.
This kind of teaching modules are available with Agastya instructors. They explain the
concepts with illustrations and activities. She particularly mentions the concept of electricity
and explains how much she enjoyed learning that topic. After learning that concept, she went
home and did the same experiment and explained it to her neighbors and family members.
Megha believes in team learning and says if there is any problem to be solved, one has to
understand about the problem and have a clear idea about what solution to be expected and
then form a team to conquer that solution. She says with this idea and confidence, she can
now work on any topic alone. However, she says she is more confident of electricity topic.
When asked about the lockdown, Megha explained that the lockdown was imposed in India
to prevent the transmission of Corona virus. During this lockdown, to not lose the learning
spirit Agastya introduced the ELP classes where the students are united using Google Meet
and Whatsapp. Megha really enjoyed the online classes. She says they were very different
compared to the classroom camp sessions as there would be teams and students together
would find solution to each problem. But in ELP classes, Megha did every activity alone and
she says that gave her a lot of exposure to the subject.
Aspiration:
Megha wants to become a teacher and increase curiosity in the students she teach. By being a
teacher, she says she can help many children in her village to be confident and move forward
in their careers. Agastya helps her a lot in reaching her dream. She says that is because of the
clarity Agastya gives with respect to the subject and the way of teaching models they
introduce her to.
