Background:
Amisha hails from a family of 4 members. Her father has a government job and her mother is
a house wife. She has a sibling and he is also studying. During her free time, Amisha likes to
paint and dance.
Practical learning helps in gaining confidence:
Amisha is a very curious student and likes to ask questions during the class session. When
she does not get a proper answer or clarify the doubt, she likes to approach to different people
without hesitation to clear the doubt. She says with this approach, she always get the answer
to the question. She faces a lot of problem when she does not get to attend the classes every
day. But then, she says with Agastya’s innovative approach during lockdown, the online
classes, she can now attend the classes even during the nationwide lockdown and she is very
happy for it.
According to Amisha, the lessons have to be taught with the practical approach associated
with them. If they are taught like that, it would make the student’s learning process very easy.
Agastya teaches the sessions just like that and she enjoys those sessions a lot. Some of the
topics that were taught with the practical approach are the light, sound, human body and cells
concepts. Simple examples were given for the complex topics like how light travels in a
straight line. She says as these are very easy to experiment, she even teaches these to her
sister and explain.
Amisha says team work is a very great medium for learning. According to her, if someone
works in a team, as everyone in the team have different perspectives, it would make the entire
team to learn in all perspectives. There are certain topics that we also learn from the nature,
according to Amisha. She gives an example of how a cotton cloth dries late than a nylon cloth
and explains the technicality in it. Amisha says she also participated in the science fair
conducted by Agastya and demonstrated the inertia model in it.
When asked about the lockdown, Amisha explained that the lockdown has started in March
in India and it is because of Corona virus. During this time, to keep up the learning spirit,
Agastya started an online session called ELP session and it used Google and Whatsapp apps
to teach the lessons. Amisha said that she learnt a lot about how one can do scientific
experiments at home with house hold ingredients also.
Aspiration:
Amisha wants to become a police officer when she grows up. She wants to find the guilty and
put them behind the bars to make this nation a safer place to live. For this, Amisha requires a
lot of courage and she says she got the confidence with the Agastya sessions and she can now
speak to so many people and explain the experiments without fear. She is very happy about it.
