TEACHING AND LEARNING STRATEGIES


1. Pupils activate prior knowledge by using ABCD cars for multiple choice questions that have four choices.
2. Each pupil has four cards, each with one letter (A, B, C, or D) which corresponds to the four choices.
PRE-LESSON
3. Pupils use one of the cards to show their response to a series of questions that check pupils’ understanding of
the meaning of family-related vocabulary from previous lessons.
4. Pupils turn to Close-Up page 10 and read the Exam Close-up and then read the Exam Task and study 6 pictures
carefully.
5. Pupils write notes of about 50 words the differences, similarities or connections between them.
LESSON 6. Pupils listen to a recording and circle the correct answers for the 6 questions.
DEVELOPMENT 7. Pupils compare their answers with a partner before discussing as a class.
8. Pupils then listen again to the same recording to check their answers.
9. Pupils compare their answers with a partner before discussing as a class.

10. Pupils review their learning by working with a partner and try to recall the exam tips they read on page 10.
POST-LESSON 11. Pupils also share their ideas on other exam tips by writing on a piece of paper.
12. Pupils later share their own exam tips with the rest of the class by writing on the board.
