This is a cover letter I used to upload on Handshake for a job application.

This letter to
the Information Technology department at UTD shows that I am a competent
communicator because it utilizes all the correct aspects in business writing.

Dear UTD Information Technology hiring committee:

I am writing to express my interest in securing an Information Technology Job at UTD. After

extensive research of your company, I am anxious to utilize my problem-solving skills with
UTDs emphasis on project coordination and data analytics in the realm of Information
Technology.

As my resume indicates, I am familiar with the medical, business, and technology fields through
my courses. By maintaining an understaffed pharmacy, I learned how to quickly problem solve
pharmaceutical issues and create a calm environment in times of stress with anxious customers.
Also, after working with college databases from my previous employer at Collin College, I
realized that I had a passion for utilizing technology in the workplace. After recognizing my love
for computers, I started to only work with jobs that needed me to handle anything software
related. I told my boss at Collin to give me any tasks related to IT, even if it was outside of my
work requirements. Thus, I learned how to fix student email addresses on the universities
website and create an online module for incoming first-year students. The more tasks I
completed, the more I wanted to master this field in all kinds of aspects. By beginning a social
media presence via Facebook and Instagram, I expanded my basic information technology skills
into business technology. Ironically, my admirations even took place in things I disliked. I have
never been a fan of writing; however, I started writing posts about advancements in technology,
such as Collin's free medical app CougarCare. I hope to continue diversifying my background in
my IT adventures with the UTD ITS team.

I am excited by the opportunity to contribute to one of the world's leading organizations while
exploring my curiosity in the use of technology as a tool to transmit knowledge. I have attached
my resume for your review. The UTD interviewing committee can reach me via email at
rxr180040@utdallas.edu or by phone at 4695636966. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you
have any questions. I enthusiastically look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Respectfully,
Rania Rawas
The emails above prove that I can send efficient and effective emails to
higher ups. Being able to send clear and concise emails are necessary in the
business setting.
The following two
images are text
messages between
peers and I regarding a
group project. Unlike
the email or the cover
letter, my grammar did
not need to be perfect,
and we did not need to
“sweat the small stuff”.
We were still able to
effectively
communicate while
having a casual tone.
To the left is a screenshot
of my texts with my boss.
I work at a pharmacy as
a technician and needed
to update my
certification.
Additionally, a few other
things were mentioned
about new employees and
schedule changes. I
included this screenshot
to convey that text
messages between boss
and employee can be
colloquial and still be
efficient.
