Carolyn Fine. How about you?
Maggie Oh, I’m fine, thanks.
Carolyn Do you work around here?
Maggie Yes, I work at Brooklyn Hospital.
Carolyn Oh, what kind of work do you do?
Maggie I’m a lab technician.
Carolyn Hmm...that sounds interesting.
Maggie Yes, it’s a good job. What do you do?
Carolyn Me? Oh, I’m an actress.
Maggie Really? How exciting!

Text B. You will translate this text for teenagers under an informal situation. You
can always refer to the way teenagers in your area use language.

What people call poverty is a bad thing. If you are poor you are worthless in the
eyes of other people. At meetings they don’t pay any attention to what you say.
Also women do not love a man who is poor. Women want to have money,
clothes and lots of other things. Also if you are poor you will not be able to send
your children to school. But if you have money then you are able to send them. If
you have a child who goes to school he will need fees for school, clothes, and
money to buy food. If you don’t have money you can’t pay for these things.

2. Now, you will teach your students to read text A above for teaching listening and
speaking. Suppose you have the audio of the conversation. Design a teaching
scenario for teaching the two skills by using the text! You have to determine the
students’ proficiency level, aims (objectives), grouping, timing, and steps.

kau katakan. Perempuan juga tidak mencintai lelaki yang miskin. Perempuan
ingin memiliki uang, pakaian dan banyak barang. Jika kau miskin kau juga
tidak bisa menyekolahkan anak anakmu. Tetapi jika kau punya uang, kau bisa
menyekolahkan mereka. Jika kau punya anak yang bersekolah, dia akan
memerlukan uang sekolah, pakaian dan uang untuk membeli makanan.jika
kau tidak memiliki uang, kau tidak bisa membayar itu semua.
