A Radiographic Testing Devices
Radiation Source is one of the following: (Check type of source)
1. X-ray generators (up to 6 MeV)
2. Iridium 192 (Ir-192) (up to 200 Ci) SAEP-1143,
A1 3. Cobalt 60 (Co-60) (up to 100 Ci) Para. 6.1 &
4. Selenium 75 (Se-75) (up to 50 Ci) Para. 8.1.2
Note: Use of Co-60 is only permitted when the thickness of the
material exceeds the practical limits of Ir-192 or Se-75.
All sealed sources, i.e; Iridium 192 (Ir-192), Cobalt 60 (Co-60),. Selenium
75 (Se-75) are housed in approved, remote operated, or shielded SAEP-1141
A2
projector type devices. Para. 10.1.1
Levels of radiation for the isotope projector shall not exceed the
following limits when a radioactive source is in its shielded position
(inside the storage camera):
1. The radiation level at 15 cm.(6 inches) from any
surface shall not exceed the limitations set forth by the SAEP-1141
A3
manufacturer of the equipment. Para. 10.1.3
2. The maximum radiation reading 4 inches (10 cm) from any exterior
surface, shall not exceed 200 mR per hour, or shall not exceed
10 mR per hour three feet (90 cm) from any exterior surface.
SAEP-1141
A6 X-Ray Equipments control system are provided with a locking device.

C Safety Equipments
Radiation Warning Signs are made in English and Arabic with a sign
bearing the radiation caution symbol, red (magenta) on yellow
background. The required radiation warning signs are as follows:
a. "Caution - Radiation Area" - for posting at the storage areas of
Isotope and at the perimeter of Radiographic work area.
(Para. 7.4)
b. "Danger, Radiation" - for posting on the front and rear of
vehicles transporting the isotope. See Standard Drawing SAEP-1141
C1
AB-036895 provided as shown in Attachment 1. (Para. 8.8) Para. 7.4
c. "Caution High Radiation Area" - for posting in areas where
space limitations do not allow the boundary to be established
at less than, or equal to, 2 mR per hour. (Para. 9.2)
d. "WARNING: KEEP A DISTANCE OF 100 METERS AROUND
THIS VEHICLE UNTIL HELP ARRIVES". This sign is affixed to
the top and inside cover of the isotope projector box.
(Para. 11.1.4)
All Saudi Aramco or contractor radiographic crews have a copy of the SAEP-1141
C7
Radiation Safety Manual in their vehicle or work location at all times. Para. 7.4
